Piper Shores is Hiring an Interim Dining Room Supervisor Near Scarborough, ME

Piper Shores is Maine’s premier nonprofit continuing care retirement community, offering Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Skilled Nursing Care for our residents with a person-centered approach to care.

The Supervisor works on either our Oceanside or Meadows restaurants with views of Casco Bay and the natural beauty of coastal Scarborough. Both options provide casual to fine dining experiences with hours that compliment a work/life balance. Easy POS system with no cash or card handling – all meals and beverages are on a meal credit system. No early mornings or late nights, with options for lunch and/or dinner service. 

This is a temporary position (12 weeks) with potential to become full-time after assignment. 

Responsibilities: Provide friendly, professional service to residents, family members and guests.

  • Assists with all levels of meal service including taking orders, boxing to-go orders, dining room prep and cleanup.
  • May assist with vegetable, fruit, salad or side preparation. Prepares and serves beverages; may serve alcoholic beverages if age requirements are met.
  • Advises the Senior Dining Room Manager of any food, personnel or resident concerns.
  • Promptly and efficiently attempt to resolve any resident or guest dining concerns.
  • Inspect the physical appearance of the dining room area and server stations to assure that they are clean and in good working order. Report any problems to The Senior Dining Room Manager for creating a work order.
  • Inspect the appearance of dining tables, including table lines, napkins, silverware, table setups, centerpieces, etc. to assure consistent standards are maintained.
  • In the absence of the Senior Dining Room Manager or Supervisor, assigns stations and side work tasks to servers. Along with overseeing the completion of assigned tasks to ensure standards are met.
  • Document via incident reports any unsatisfactory performance by servers as outlined in the employee handbook or established dining room policies and procedures.
  • Maintains pertinent and appropriate staff attendance records, reservations, incident reports, and special functions, and assist in performing computerized resident billing transactions as needed.

Qualifications:

  • High school graduate required. Prefer courses in hospitality management or dining room operations.
  • A minimum of one-year experience in “front of the house operations” in a restaurant, hotel, club or similar institution is preferred.
  • Ability to communicate with, understand, empathize with and be tolerant of residents, families, visitors, peers, supervisors and other outside contacts.
