Job Purpose: The Marketing Analyst will be a crucial member of the Pittsburgh Symphony team. They will help us to achieve our vision of Great Music in Every Life by providing data-driven insights into the musical tastes and desires of Pittsburgh. They will be responsible for collecting, analyzing, and reporting on ticket sales and patron data to help inform and guide concert marketing and programming decisions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Create and maintain a set of sales reports and revenue forecasting tools to be shared within the department and with PSO senior leadership.
  • With Director of Patron Services and Vice President of Marketing and Communications, discover and track KPIs to monitor concert sales and adjust marketing strategies.
  • Perform in-depth analyses on patron purchasing habits to identify focused market segments we have previously been unable to reach.
  • Extract and manipulate historical data from Tessitura to fill gaps in our store of readily available historical reports.
  • Evaluate and improve/replace current revenue forecasting models.
  • Evaluate the potential efficacy of incorporating machine learning or artificial intelligence tools into our strategies.
  • Work closely with PSO Development team to find leverage points to increase patron engagement with the PSO.
  • Work proactively to identify and understand patterns and trends to help the PSO achieve our artistic and strategic goals.
Required Education, Experience and Abilities:
  • Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, or equivalent quantitative field required.
  • Two years of experience in an analytical role preferred.
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with MS-SQL Server or similar relational DBMS.
  • Experience with Python, R, or similar language and related tools.
  • Experience with Power BI, Seaborn/matplotlib, or other visual analytics tools.
  • Strong knowledge of statistics and/or business intelligence concepts.
  • An inquisitive, analytical mindset and drive to understand patterns and trends.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects with differing timelines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Eagerness to learn new skills and technologies.
  • Experience with AI/ML tools for data analytics a plus.
  • Knowledge of classical music and orchestral repertoire preferred.
  • Knowledge of Tessitura or other CRM preferred.
Physical Requirements :
  • Ability to work on a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to operate related equipment, i.e., computer, copier, scanner.
Compensation and Location:
This is a full-time, exempt position with an annual salary range between $50,000 - $55,000 depending upon experience. We also offer a comprehensive benefit package which includes paid holidays, paid time off, health benefits, as well as retirement savings options. Heinz Hall in downtown Pittsburgh is the work location for this position . Success in this position requires local presence and relationship building. The PSO supports a flexible, hybrid work environment, which currently includes three days per week in-person work.
