PJ Trans is seeking an aggressive, forward thinking, and highly motivated Freight Dispatcher to work in a fast-paced environment.

The ideal dispatcher will have a strong work ethic, can work autonomously as well as collaborate in a team environment, and is dedicated to deliverables and has a strong internal will to succeed. The dispatcher will be assigned their own team of drivers and a dedicated zone in the 48 states. The dispatcher will be responsible for using the latest in-routing software to establish daily trucking routes that make required stops outlined in customer contracts. Book loads from load boards, dispatch drivers, update brokers/customers/shippers/receivers and create trucking routes to meet customer scheduling needs.

Responsibilities

• Perform freight services according to company and government regulations.

• Create, coordinate, and manage pick-up and delivery schedules, coordinating with shippers, carriers, dispatchers, and customers.
• Book orders with carriers and assist in preparation for loading.
• Coordinate logistics for projects coming from multiple customer sites and vendors.
• Monitor all routes and schedule backhauls with same trucks to utilize max. cost of the daily route.
• Manage multiple deliveries, process spot requests, and develop new sales strategies to generate new leads, improve business, and develop a sales pipeline.
• Identify safe carriers for freight services, develop business relationships with carrier contacts, and provide current and prospective customers with shipping quotes.
• Maintain strong relationships with multiple carriers.
• Maintain accurate records of all activity, ensuring freight paperwork is complete and approved prior to transportation.
• Track shipments from inception through completion. Duties customarily involve all aspects of pickups and deliveries, including creating loads and entering new customers into the system.

• Resolve issues that may affect the scheduled times for pickup or delivery. These issues normally include mechanical problems with trucks, delays due to traffic or weather challenges, or changes requested by the customer regarding times or locations.
• Resolve freight discrepancies and keep relevant parties apprised.
• Respond to customer concerns and queries in a timely, professional manner.

Required Skills 

• Minimum of 1 year dispatching freight. 
• Must be able to cover 8-10 trucks OTR/Local.
• Skilled in booking loads from the board according to the market price and company needs.
• Knowledge of TruckStop, DAT360 TMW, Pro-Transport.
• Knowledge of ELD/Logbook compliance. 
• General knowledge of FMCSA Hours of Service.
• Must be able to commute daily 
• Must be able to work in high pressure environment.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Outstanding people skills.
