PlanIT Group is seeking an Imaging Technician to support our Federal customer in the Washington, DC area. The Imaging Technician will be a member of the deployment team, that assists in developing and testing desktop and laptop images for customer's enterprise, consistent with best practices. The Imaging Technician will also participate in maintenance and day-to-day support working with the government customers' enterprise Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) environment. This includes deploying, updating, and supporting custom Windows 10 & 11 operating systems (OS) images for desktops and notebooks. This individual will utilize Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT) and Microsoft SCCM as primary tools for creating and delivering complex desktop images that support a wide variety of desktop and laptop models in a large enterprise for a government customer.

Imaging Technician
Client is seeking an Imaging Technician to join our team. The Imaging Technician will be a member of the deployment team, that assists in developing and testing desktop and laptop images for customer's enterprise, consistent with best practices. The Imaging Technician will also participate in maintenance and day-to-day support working with the government customers' enterprise Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) environment. This includes deploying, updating, and supporting custom Windows 10 & 11 operating systems (OS) images for desktops and notebooks. This individual will utilize Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT) and Microsoft SCCM as primary tools for creating and delivering complex desktop images that support a wide variety of desktop and laptop models in a large enterprise for government customer.

Day to Day Work Responsibilities:

  • Experience supporting software environments and release deployment in a similar environment and have orchestrated and executed complex releases and updates in both Windows and macOS environments.
  • Ensure all work is supported by appropriate documentation and resolved/completed within (SLA) service level agreement (incident, problem, service request or project tickets)
  • Image development and deployment experience using the "Operating System Deployment” (OSD) feature of SCCM.
  • Administer Microsoft SCCM 2012 environment, including creating or editing security groups, application deployments (collections, advertisements, task sequences, and PowerShell scripts), patch management, general troubleshooting, log analysis, upgrade, and recommendations on current infrastructure.
  • Ensure proper solutions and knowledge management best practices are followed and integrate Continual Service Improvement processes to continually refine and improve image management.
  • Coordinate updates to images with help desk support teams and change management organization.
  • Analyzed and apply patches, service packs, and infrastructure updates.
  • Manage and coordinate team of Windows and Microsoft SCCM team to aid in support of the projects and current needs of the environment.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve SCCM management point policy issues and package/program deployment failures.
  • Support customer with Mobile Device Management (MDM) practices and supporting toolsets such as AirWatch.
  • Resolve issues for desktop and laptop incidents and requests in a timely manner.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with 5 years related experience, master's degree with 3 years related experience or high school diploma/equivalent with 9 years related experience.
  • Ability to obtain/maintain a public trust clearance.
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) along with ability to manage the console and track deployments.
  • Ability to adjust schedule to match the customer requirements.
  • Knowledge of Systems Center Operations Manager/System Center Orchestrator.
  • Experience in a Microsoft Active Directory environment, including knowledge of group policy, DNS, DHCP, and VPN technologies
  • Experience using ServiceNow.

Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum 7 years of experience related in IT with at least 5 years performing end-user platform engineering and management to include development and maintenance of desktop image(s).

  • Experience with deployment using SCCM OSD and supporting task sequencing methods

5 years' experience administering and using Microsoft SCCM for software and/or Image deployment.

  • Experience and technical skills in Windows Server, Windows Desktop, Mac OS clients, Android and iPhone, iPad devices including JAMF and Apple Business Manager (ABM).
  • Extensive experience developing customized Windows OS client images with Microsoft Desktop Deployment Toolkit (DDT) / SCCM OSD. Task Sequences, Microsoft Windows Server Update Services (WSUS), and Group Policies.
  • Experience providing Tier 3 support to desktop support technicians.
  • Experience with remote access using VPNs and/or Citrix, thin clients, BYOD, and VDI infrastructure desired.
  • Experience with BitLocker whole disk encryption.
  • Proven project management experience and demonstrated ability to execute and achieve expected results.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Required Certification (at least one):

  • MCSE, MCSA, ASCP or AMCT

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $45.00 - $50.00 per hour
