Job Summary:

The manager of public relations and communications is responsible for creating, managing, and executing communication and media strategies to enhance the organization's public image, the member experience, and internal communication processes. This role involves creating and distributing media materials, drafting content for various platforms, and working closely with different departments to ensure consistent and effective communication.

Essential Job Functions:

• Media Relations:
  • Communicate with media outlets and journalists
  • Create and distribute media materials
  • Handle communications inquiries from the media and internal teams
  • Secure media presence for NFP events, such as grand openings and community outreach activities
• Content Development:
  • Draft press releases, social media posts, website content, email marketing materials, newsletters, and campaign collateral.
  • Conduct member and team member interviews for media content.
  • Maintain and update content on the NFP website.
  • Handle photography and videography needs.
• Standardization and Branding:
  • Develop style guides and standardized materials for all NFP communications.
  • Guide the creation and maintenance of brand standards for templates and copy used in emails and other campaign materials.
• Storytelling and Campaigns:
  • Create materials that tell the story of NFP/Planet Fitness, including fact sheets, videos, website content, and social media posts.
  • Perform communications research and monitor the progress of various strategies and campaigns
  • Collaborate with club leadership to generate member experience content using external public relations vendors
  • Evaluate tactics and campaigns to determine their effectiveness.
• Staff Training and Development:
  • Develop educational materials to inform staff on communication best practices.
  • Coach and assist team members as needed.
• Local Marketing Support:
  • Work alongside the Local Marketing Director to provide club operations with standardized promotional and campaign displays, signage, and collateral.
  • Assist in developing and executing strategic partnership strategies and local event sponsorships.
  • Assist the marketing department with influencer marketing strategy and campaign execution.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism or a related field (required)
• At least 2 years of experience in a communications or public relations role (required)
• Experience working for a PR agency and/or media agency (required)
• Background in communications strategies and tactics
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Critical thinking skills and the ability to analyze data
