PlaneWave, Inc. is Hiring a Senior Assembly and Test Technician Near Los Angeles, CA

Job Overview

PlaneWave Inc. is seeking a versatile “super technician” with a broad skill set and extensive experience in various fields. The primary responsibility of this role is to assemble and test antennas and printed circuit boards (PCBs) at our engineering and manufacturing facility. This will involve following released engineering drawings and assembly instructions using our work order system.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, solder, inspect, and test PCB assemblies.
  • Solder electronic assemblies with surface mount components to IPC-A-610 and IPC-J-STD-001 standards.
  • Perform required setups to test units.
  • Keep accurate records through proper documentation of all measurements according to quality procedures.
  • Write test reports.
  • Collaborate with other technicians and the engineering team to correct and improve any documents related to the assembly process, ensuring high-quality standards.
  • Continuously seek ways to improve work processes.
  • Write, read, and interpret manufacturing procedures, work instructions, drawings, and schematics.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED. An Associate degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience as an assembler and test technician.
  • Proficient in using mechanical, electronic, and RF test instruments, such as DMM, oscilloscope, VNA, thermal chamber, and vibration table.
  • Excellent manual dexterity, attention to detail, organizational skills, and patience when working with small components and detail-oriented tasks.
  • Vocational training in Electronics or Solder Certification.
  • Familiarity with safety and ESD practices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Programming experience with Python for test automation.
  • Experience with 3D printing plastics and/or resins.
  • Firmware programming for embedded systems such as Arduino.
  • Experience with operating small CNC machines and laser cutters.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing methodologies and inventory management.
