Schedule:
- Monday - Friday 5:00pm-1:30am
- $17.00 per hour
The environmental services Floorcare\Housekeeper is responsible for executing the daily duties in exam rooms, patient care areas, labs, nurses’ stations, equipment, and common areas. Specialty area (surgical services/peri-operative suite, Cath lab, endoscopy, etc.) and other assignments as required to establish and maintain a safe, hygienic, and aesthetically pleasing care environment.
Possesses technical skills required to use cleaning and maintenance chemicals and floor equipment properly prescribed by written procedures of the environmental services department. Responsible for responding favorably to requests to adjust daily workflow or area assignments to meet facility needs.

Primary Responsibilities
- Performs all types of floor care and maintenance throughout the facility, including hard surfaces and carpeting.
- Cleans and performs routine maintenance on floor equipment, requesting assistance from operations and maintenance as needed.
- Maintains accurate floor care logs and checklists.
- Responsible for cleaning and disinfection of specialty units & equipment. Areas include but are not limited to Surgical Services, Endoscopy, Infusion, MRI,
- Performs duties while demonstrating a working knowledge of the health care cleaning and disinfecting principles and requirements, proper and safe chemical use, equipment handling, and labor-saving products for all items within the specialty environment tasked with servicing
- Adhere to all organizational safety, risk management, and infection control standards while promoting a safety culture.
- Operates all equipment carefully and according to facility and manufacturer safety standards and procedures.
- Participates in departmental performance improvement initiatives, including but not limited to initiatives to improve HCAHPS scores as it relates to hospital cleanliness & “always quiet.”
- Performs project work and specialty tasks according to facility needs. It can include tasks such as setting up/dismantling the conference room according to function sheets and schedules, cleaning the stairwells and elevators, and hanging cubicle curtains.
- Remove waste and transport it to the appropriate disposal areas while identifying the proper waste streams (i.e., regulated medical, recycle, solid, and hazardous).
- Follow all infection prevention practices (i.e., proper cleaning process, hand hygiene, standard & isolation precautions where and if required, and proper use of personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Recognizes and adheres to patient privacy requirements (HIPAA)
- Practices critical thinking skills to include prioritization.
- Demonstrates personal accountability.
- Identify and utilize appropriate resources to ensure identified problems or concerns are followed through and resolved.
- Recognizes the importance of how their communication is received by patients, visitors, other health care workers, staff, etc.
- They recognize their role as part of the larger organization and model the mission statement through interaction with patients, family, visitors, and other facility staff.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Certified Health Care Environmental Services Technician (CHEST) desired
- 1-year Environmental Services Experience
- Previous floor care maintenance experience desired
- Knowledge and skills in using power equipment, conventional and high-speed floor machines, carpet cleaning equipment, wet, dry, and power vacuum equipment, and push sweeper.
- Effectively uses computers and mobile devices.
- Communicates orally or in writing openly and candidly, creating an environment where one can do likewise.
- Respectfully listens to the viewpoints and ideas of others.
- Ability to work without close supervision.
- Ability to operate necessary equipment/machines.
