No matter what.”________________________________________Certified Nursing Assistants participate in a team approach to patient care which requires effectively communicating with patients from a wide range of backgrounds and ages and supporting their healthcare experience with compassion and excellent care. The CNA is responsible for patient education, patient care, laboratory work, sonogram services and documenting patient activity in the electronic health records system. These responsibilities require the CNA to train and work at multiple stations.

PPGP’s medical staff includes board certified OB/GYN and family medicine physicians, as well as advanced practice clinicians including nurse practitioners and physician assistants. PPGP’s clinicians provide sexual and reproductive health care, perform examinations, and diagnose and treat infections. PPGP also provides comprehensive, age-appropriate sex education, and our sister corporation, Planned Parenthood Great Plains Votes, is a leading advocate for the sexual and reproductive rights of people in our region.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Education
- Conducts patient educational sessions including providing informed consent counseling to ensure that the patient understands and agrees to their medical care, and that the patient makes voluntary decisions with the absence of coercion.
- Educates patients on options after pregnancy, including parenting, adoption and abortions.
- Provides clients with accurate information regarding PPGP services, including questions pertaining to contraception, options, and funding sources.
- Laboratory
- Practice proper patient identification, label vials with patient names and dates.
- Determine best method for drawing blood depending on the patient and collect blood samples from patients.
- Prepares laboratory specimens; performs basic laboratory tests on the premises; disposes of contaminated supplies; sterilizes medical instruments; and performs other procedures as requested.
- Comply with health center policy on leaving samples for transportation to laboratory.
- Conducts tests according to the Clinical Laboratory Improvements Amendments (CLIA) standards and adheres to OSHA regulations when handling biological matter.
- Practice infection control standards at all times when working with patients and equipment.
- Patient Care
- Verifies patient information by interviewing patient; reviewing and/or recording medical and social history; taking vital signs; confirming purpose of visit or treatment, and reviews medications and allergies. Completes records by recording patient examination, treatment, and test results.
- Prepares patients for the health care visit by directing and/or accompanying them to the examination room; provides examination gowns and drapes; helps them to position themselves for the examination and/or treatment; arranges examination room instruments, supplies, and equipment.
- Supports patient care delivery by assisting health care providers during examinations; prepares laboratory specimens; performs basic laboratory tests on the premises; disposes of contaminated supplies; sterilizes medical instruments; and performs other procedures as requested.
- Ultrasound
- Verifies physician orders and procedure to assure accuracy.
- Explains the procedure to patient to ensure understanding.
- Operates all equipment in practice with competence.
- Completes patient scans in a professional and efficient manner.
- Performs quality ultrasound to assist the physicians in diagnosis and treatment of the patient.
- Evaluates images in accordance with professional practice standard.
- Participates in quality assurance activities.
- Note: CNAs with no prior ultrasound experience are encouraged to apply, as PPGP offers onsite training.
- Back Office Support
- Sterilizes instruments, gowns, surfaces and other supplies.
- Cleans, disinfects and sterilizes instruments and equipment.
- Operates and maintains Autoclave.
- Conducts daily and weekly spore testing using biological indicators.
- Stocks supplies.
- Supports the discharge process and escorts patient out of the health center.
- Quality Focus: Ensures all aspects of work are completed correctly and free from error.
- Teamwork: Cooperates actively and effectively with others in the pursuit of common goals.
- Effectively interacts with co-workers and patients with diverse ethnic backgrounds, religious views, political affiliations, cultural backgrounds, lifestyles and sexual orientations and treat individuals with respect and dignity.
- Interpersonal Orientation: Strives to understand others' feelings and treats others with empathy, care, compassion, and respect.
- Organizational Compliance: Values and attends to rules, policies, and procedures and adheres to formal codes of conduct and informal, yet widely accepted, social standards.

- Demonstrate ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Current Kansas or multi-state CNA license
- Ability to work flexible hours, including Saturdays and evenings
- Possess ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain a professional posture
- Experience with electronic medical records systems required; prior working knowledge of Epic preferred
- One or more years’ experience in clinical setting; women's health care experience preferred
- Demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
- Travel throughout the affiliate as needed
- Bilingual a plus
