Planned Parenthood Western Pennsylvania (PPWP) is the local affiliate of the country’s leading sexual and reproductive health care advocate and provider. PPWP operates five health centers located in Allegheny, Westmoreland, and Cambria Counties and provides education and advocacy services throughout western Pennsylvania.

Planned Parenthood of Western Pennsylvania is seeking a registered nurse to work in our ambulatory surgical facility. The nurse is an integral part of our health care team. Primary responsibilities include monitoring patients in the recovery area and monitoring during sedation procedures, working with the nursing team to provide emergency call response and doing centralized follow-up. The purpose of this position is to support the delivery of comprehensive sexual and reproductive healthcare, including clinical abortion care. QUALIFICATIONS:

●Associate degree in nursing or BS in nursing. BSN desired

●Candidates with any level of RN experience are encouraged to apply.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

●Consistently demonstrate appropriate service behaviors in interactions with patients

and colleagues

●Actively contribute to an inclusive workplace culture by working collaboratively as a

valued member of the care team

●Proactively work to resolve conflict and perform service recovery, as needed

●Provides pre-abortion education and counseling including review of medical records

and post-procedure contraceptive method options.

●Assists physician and patient during abortion procedure and ensures a safe and

aseptic environment is maintained.

●Start IVs and administer intravenous solutions and IV medications.

●Manages care for patients in recovery room following abortion procedure, including

assessing condition, monitoring vital signs and initiating emergency protocols as

necessary.

●Coordinates patient discharge and scheduling follow up visits and provides

information and education to patients on their post-abortion care

●Carries out clinician orders for dispensing contraceptive supplies and assuring

compliance with pharmacy standards.

●After appropriate training and sign-off, provides ultrasound services and participates

centralized follow up activities.

●Assists in the delivery and coordination of quality healthcare to PPWP valued patients.
