REPORTS TO: Vice President of Development/Director of Major Gifts

STATUS: Exempt, Full-Time

SALARY: $90-100K

SCOPE OF POSITION:

Together we raise more than $5.0 million annually to make sure that Planned Parenthood Southwest Ohio (PPSWO) can provide quality reproductive health care and education to those who need it most. We need your enthusiasm, energy, skills, and passion to expand our excellent team.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Director of Development collaborates with the fundraising team and leads fundraising and engagement strategies for Southwest Ohio. Based out of our Dayton/Cincinnati office, this position will play a vital role in securing contributed revenue and expanding our network of support, while managing a personal portfolio of 75-100 major gift prospects. Our team of Development Directors (Major Gifts, Regional, Mid-Level, Annual Fund, and Grants) work in tandem to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors and prospects. Responsible for establishing strategies and executing programs including major, mid-level, annual, planned, and corporate gifts.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Plans and leads a midlevel/major gifts strategy that includes prospecting, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of all major, giving circle, affinity group and corporate donors and prospects.

· Manages the above portfolios working in conjunction with the Vice President of Development and Senior Director of Development using Moves Management.

· Continually assesses new prospects to look for engagement opportunities.

· Oversees assessment of major gifts, giving circles, affinity groups and corporate fundraising metrics.

· Establishes and meets mutually agreed upon financial goals for moving donors through the development cycle, including visits, dollars solicited, and dollars raised.

· Develops, manages and tracks budgets for all giving programs.

· Coordinates and staff regional cultivation and stewardship events to elevate the visibility of Planned Parenthood in the community and garner increased financial support.

· Oversees meaningful donor recognition programs and opportunities for engagement at all levels of giving (major gifts, affinity groups, giving circle and corporate members).

· Prepares donor packets of information, proposals, budgets, gift agreements and contact reports for all assigned donors.

· Develops, manages, and track budgets for all giving programs within your region.

· Must close gifts to meet financial goals as established by the VP of Development.

· Prepares reports for Board of Trustees and Strategic Plan meetings.

· Oversees special stewardship projects including follow up letters after VIP events, holiday card mailings, “swag” mailings, invitations to special events, personal calls to donors, etc.

· Adheres to all policies and procedures as established by Planned Parenthood Federation of America and PP Southwest Ohio Region, such as: gift acceptance, gift counting, and gift processing, AFP Ethics and Donor Bill of Rights. Fulfills information requests and maintains reporting accuracy to ensure continued compliance for Affiliate Accreditation purposes.

· Works with selected volunteers and volunteer committees.

· Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree and CFRE accreditation preferred.
  • At least three to five (3-5) years of professional fundraising experience in the nonprofit sector.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to confidently ask for major gifts.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, respond to changing priorities as they arise.
  • Experience with fundraising tools; including direct mail, proposal writing, major gifts, and planned giving.

· Excellent relationship building and communication skills, including a high level of self-awareness, empathy, and humility in interpersonal interactions.

· Managerial experience with volunteers.

· Experience with financial record-keeping software as well as common word processing, database management, spreadsheets, and online communication technology.

· Experience with Donor Perfect preferred.

· Excellent organizational skills.

· Must be a discreet individual with well-developed analytical and problem-solving abilities.

· Must maintain strict confidentiality with donor information

· Occasional regional travel and evening events.

· Passionate commitment to PPSWO’s mission and values related to health equity, especially centering on racial equity, and a deep sense of accountability to community. Demonstrated understanding of the role that racial inequity plays in our society and its impact on healthcare systems and care delivery. Demonstrated ability to be responsive to changing priorities and simultaneously manage multiple complex initiatives. Strong attention to detail.
