Design Assistant (Full or Part Time)

Plantasia Design is an award winning Indoor / Outdoor Plantscaping Company founded in 1998. Woman owned, fully licensed, we serve the needs of property and facility managers, architects and interior designers across various industries including hospitality, financial, medical and legal, in both Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Staffed with a team of experienced plant designers, licensed horticulturists, and certified landscape technicians, Plantasia Design brings a high level of expertise to a broad range of interior and exterior plantscaping projects. With continued investments in training, we ensure staff is up to date on the latest industry standards and techniques.
STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
The Design Assistant assists with the creation, execution and installation of designs for interior and exterior plantscapes, living walls, moss walls, flowering, foliage and faux arrangements, as well as holiday décor for high-end residential and commercial spaces.
MAJOR FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Creates flowering, faux, live plant, holiday and other botanical and seasonal arrangements
· Decorates Christmas Trees, Wreaths and other holiday décor
· Participates in idea generation for new designs
· Assists with the Installation of special projects at client locations
· Maintains the live plants and flowers
· Participates and collaborates in meetings with Design/Production and Sales team
· Maintains inventory of accents, faux pieces and other elements and materials
· Other Duties As Assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· High School Diploma.
· Familiar with Microsoft Office
· Basic understanding of design principles and aesthetics – a creative eye.
· Experience in producing designs.
· Ability to read spreadsheets and written work orders.
· Ability to use a smart phone and time tracking phone application.
· Excellent communication skills – written and verbal.
· Good natured and able to handle pressure.
· Balance efficiencies while offering a great customer experience to clients.
· Maintain a professional appearance and manner.
· Ability to learn Horticultural practices- plant variety names both common and Latin - training provided.
· An ability to manage several projects simultaneously, work independently and in teams.
· A valid driver’s license and reliable insured transportation in order to travel to and from clients and work-related meetings is required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT AS PART OF JOB DUTIES:
The employee must meet the physical demands and work environment of the position. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable those with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
· Comfortable operating power tools.
· Ability to climb ladders up to 12’.
· Lift up to 40 pounds.
· Operate scissors
· Be available during nontraditional working hours, extended work hours.
· Able to stand, sit, bend over, be at computer, and move around for prolonged periods of time.
· Perform physical activity, including but not limited to: digging, moving heavy objects, being in various cold and heated temperatures, being outside in various weather conditions, being at high heights, working with mechanical tools/power tools, work with heavy machinery, and other physical activities.
POSITION STATUS: This is a full-time and/or part-time position (Benefits for full time position).
SALARY: $17 to $20 per hour
NOTE:
· All staff members must have legal authorization to work in the United States.
· A pre-employment criminal background check may be conducted for all positions.
