This position is based out of our Pittsburgh, PA (Strip District) Headquarters.

Are you an established accounting professional looking to advance in your career? The Accounting Manager is a member of the senior leadership team at Plantscape, reporting to the president. The Accounting Manager directs the financial affairs of the organization and prepares financial analyses of operations, including interim and final financial statements with supporting schedules, for the guidance of management. The Accounting Manager is responsible for the company’s financial plans and policies, its accounting practices, the conduct of its relationships with lending institutions and the financial community, the maintenance of its fiscal records, and the preparation of financial reports. The position involves supervision over general accounting, property accounting, internal auditing, cost accounting, and budgetary controls, and performs other related duties as assigned.

Accounting Manager Duties and Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage all areas of financial operations and reporting to validate the accuracy and integrity of financial data.
• Prepare and execute monthly accounting activity to include journal entries, P&L reports, monthly reconciliations, and balance sheet reports on a timely basis.
• Coordinate and direct the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts, institute and maintain other planning and control procedures (including the cost accounting system) and analyze and report variances.
• Develop, analyze, and interpret statistical and accounting information to appraise operating results in terms of profitability, performance against budget, and other matters bearing on the fiscal soundness and operating effectiveness of the organization.
• Evaluate and manage the performance of personnel in the Accounting Department, recommend administrative needs, and keep the staff at the highest level of skill necessary to meet company needs and objectives.
• Assure corporate compliance with financial reporting requirements of all contracts and regulatory entities.
• Maintain the company's system of accounts and keeps books and records on all company transactions and assets.
• Assist senior management in establishing economic objectives and policies for the company and prepare timely reports that outline the company's financial position in the areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and future operations.
• Establish and maintain professional relationships with financial institutions, accounting firms, suppliers, vendors, and others.
• Gather and prepare documentation for taxes for External Tax Accountant, CPA
• Oversee and manage processes for accounts payable, A/R collections, payroll reporting, and administration of benefits such as the 401(k), medical, and life insurance plans.
• Furnish internal reports, revise and update reports to be more useful and efficient and furnish external reports as necessary and as required by the Company’s external auditors in preparation for the year-end audit review.
• Determine depreciation rates to apply to capitalized items and advise management on desirable operational adjustments due to tax revisions.
• Assist and advise senior leadership on financial management issues.

Requirements

Accounting Manager Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field. Graduate degree is a plus.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation preferred.
• Minimum of 5-7 years experience in a financial management position preferably with a service company of similar complexity and structure, and experience with GAAP.
• Highly developed organizational and prioritizing abilities, with prior administrative management expertise preferred.
• Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, functions independently and accurately, and meets deadlines.
• Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
• Ability to work effectively with other staff members, direct reports, clients, and vendors in a pleasant and productive manner.
• Willingness and ability to be flexible to changing needs.
• High level of proficiency in PC-based computer systems including Microsoft Office Suite (including Excel, Word, Teams, and Outlook). Familiarity with Asset by Include Software a plus. Ability to learn additional computer programs.
