Job summary
The Systems Engineer II is responsible for deploying, configuring, supporting, maintaining, and retiring infrastructure systems throughout their lifecycle. This role involves advanced troubleshooting and support for IT/OT infrastructure, system maintenance, vulnerability management, system monitoring, log review, and maintaining system diagrams and documentation.
The newest member of the infrastructure services team will primarily focus on IT/OT documentation, resolving break/fix issues, handling customer requests, and managing Microsoft and Office 365 services.

Schedule and environment
This is a remote position that works a typical Monday through Friday schedule, with onsite days as needed in Fort Collins. Work may be performed in a home office or corporate office setting and requires minimal effort to occasionally lift and carry light objects.
Essential duties and responsibilities
- Models the mission, vision, values, and culture of the organization.
- Provide tier II infrastructure support, manage the incident queue, and assist less experienced staff with complex troubleshooting.
- Collaborate with the service desk to configure and monitor systems, respond to alerts, and diagnose issues.
- Work with the security team to ensure system logs are recorded and proper alerts are configured.
- Perform maintenance and patching, manage change tickets, and implement patches and fixes.
- Collaborate with the asset management team to maintain infrastructure asset information in the configuration management database.
- Adhere to and provide input on change management processes and procedures.
- Maintain system diagrams and documentation.
- Continuously develop new skills through training and collaboration with experienced systems engineers.
- Demonstrate safe work practices and comply with safety procedures.
- Handle advanced infrastructure troubleshooting, support, system maintenance, vulnerability management, system monitoring, log reviews, and documentation.
- Install and configure hardware, create and manage server images, and administer Active Directory services.
- Assist with SAN deployment and management, and enterprise backup system deployment and management.
- Perform Exchange administration, manage Azure Active Directory roles and permissions, and handle Microsoft 365 tenant services and applications.
- Configure resource pools in VMware and Azure, deploy physical hosts, manage virtual machines, and ensure proper monitoring and high availability of the virtual infrastructure. Identify and remediate problems, and perform vulnerability remediation and upgrades.
- Install, configure, test, and manage network equipment, including switches, routers, and wireless access points.
- Ensure regular backup of configurations and maintain functional restore procedures.
- Manage routers, firewalls, and assist with defining and implementing complex firewall rules and ACLs.
- Deploy and configure wireless networking management and monitoring technologies and implement device hardening techniques.
- Assist senior system engineers with network design and implementation planning.
- Possess an intermediate understanding of networking concepts, including layer 2/3, wireless, firewalls, ACLs, VPNs, WAN, OSI/TCP/IP models, IP address management, DHCP, DNS, servers, storage systems, network equipment, and datacenter hardware.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work with frequent interruptions.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, after hours, and on-call as needed.
- Intermediate troubleshooting skills in assigned areas and basic skills in other areas.
- Subject matter expert in at least one assigned area.
- Experience using Visio or similar tools for creating diagrams and documentation.
Required criteria
- Bachelor’s degree in computer information systems, computer science, engineering, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid driver’s license with the ability to maintain insurability under a corporate vehicle liability policy.
- IT Service Management training certification or ability to complete certification within your first year of employment.
- Three years of experience working as a systems engineer or equivalent in an enterprise computing environment.
- Two entry-level technical certifications or relevant experience, with the ability to obtain within a year.
This is an exempt position; salaries are paid bi-weekly. Factors that may be used to determine actual salary include specific skills, years of experience, education, and certifications.
- Hiring range: $97,586 to $117,189 if annualized.
- Full pay range for position: $97,586 to $136,685 if annualized.
