The Environmental, Health, & Safety (EHS) Specialist is responsible for coordinating and implementing health and safety initiatives for the St. Clair Food facility and supporting other campus buildings when required.

Key Responsibility:

• Provide coaching and support for all site leadership employees to raise health & safety awareness
• Implement and administer company safety programs and policies and ensure compliance with OHSA and all other relevant H&S related legislation and regulations
• Conduct periodic site inspections, investigate safety concerns, and complete H&S audits
• Practice transparent compliance using H&S walkarounds, corrective action logs, risk assessments, and behavioral-based safety observations
• Review site-specific H&S requirements and attend on-site health and safety meetings, including leading these meetings at times
• Co-chair the Health & Safety Committee
• Perform incident investigations, support leaders with incident reporting and root cause analysis, and manage the Corrective Action Preventative Action tracker
• Maintain H&S records and documents and track H&S statistical performance
• Support administration of all Workers Compensation Claims
• Support management and employees on the return to work and modified work programs
• Provide internal safety training and safety toolbox talks
• Conduct the H&S portion of the new hire orientation training for both campuses
• Perform other H&S job related Tasks & Duties as required
• Monthly time at the specific buildings would be approximately 80% at St. Clair Food, 10% at St. Clair GP, and 10% at Pacific Manufacturing

Qualifications:

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in an EHS-related field or comparable work experience
• Minimum 3 years of H&S experience required. Preferably in a food or chemical manufacturing environment
• Knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations
• Experience in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Smartsheet)
• EHS Management and Learning Management System experience is preferred
• Proficient written and verbal communication skills
• Flexibility to work outside of core hours where required, including occasional off-shifts
• Ability to multitask and prioritize according to workload
• Well-developed facilitation and training skills
• Calm, diplomatic, and pleasant demeanor
• Collaborative and team-focused leadership style
• Physically required to be able to be on a manufacturing floor, wear specific PPE, and walk and stand for long periods of time
