Job Description:A Mechanical Engineer performs a wide variety of design duties applying ingenuity and creativity to visualize and define the design of machines and their components. They must consider any related alterations to other structures or parts with due consideration for manufacturing feasibility, cost, and operation. Good communication and teamworking skills are required to be able to collaborate with Sales, Project Managers, Engineers, Assemblers, Service Technicians, machine shops, as well as outside customers. The Mechanical Engineer will act as a mentor to the Co-Op’s.
Essential Job Functions:
- Work from design sketches, specifications, and engineering data; prepare layouts using CAD tools
- Using working knowledge and experience, evaluate design to verify fit and function as well as practicality and feasibility of manufacturing; make pertinent engineering calculations for materials, ratios, clearances, tolerances or other factors
- Prepare bills of material, assembly, detailed drawings and pneumatic schematics using CAD tools
- Share knowledge and support manufacturing and assembly teams
- Maintain supplier interface
- Manage and maintain product/project files
- Develops manufacturing processes by designing and modifying equipment for fabricating, building, assembling, and installing components.
- Assures system and product quality by designing testing methods; testing finished- product and system capabilities; confirming fabrication, assembly, and installation processes.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Utilize charts, tables, formulae, advanced mathematics and current computer technologies to make pertinent engineering calculations for materials, stresses, strains, clearances or other factors.
- Assist field service team by visiting customer locations to offer technical assistance during installation or troubleshoot malfunctioning machines or equipment.
- Completed bachelor’s degree in an engineering field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 2 years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing engineering position
