Location: Advanced Care of St. Joseph - 3002 N 18th St, St Joseph, MO 64505

Hours/Shifts: Our openings include full-time, part-time, PRN for all shifts

Principal Responsibilities: 

  • Administers prescribed medications and treatments as defined by state regulations in accordance with approved techniques and notes time and amount on resident’s chart.
  • Deliver routine daily medications as prescribed by physician to residents; pass resident medications in accordance with physician orders and as stated on the Medication Administration Record (MAR).
  • Verifies identity of resident receiving medication and records name of drug, dosage, and time of administration on specified forms and records; Documents reasons prescribed drugs are not administered and reports to nursing supervisor.
  • Presents medication to residents and observes ingestion or other application, or administers medication, using specified procedures
  • Document completion of tasks delivered daily; Document any observed change of condition in accordance with local rules and regulations.
  • Communicate between Med Techs/Med Aides about resident needs for consistent quality services. 
  • Participate in meal service including serving, clearing, and cleaning the dining room; Ensure that residents are positioned appropriately for meals; Ensure that appropriate utensils are within reach of residents; Serve food trays and assist with feeding as indicated; deliver and document all a.m., p.m., and bedtime snacks and supplements; Provides hydration to all residents according to center policy. Responsible for knowledge of proper procedures to provide personal care services to residents; provide requested personal care services to residents.
  • Observe the resident, record significant conditions and reactions, and notify the Nurse Supervisor or Physician of the resident’s condition and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents.
  • Records and restocks medication inventories.
  • Prepares equipment and aids nurses during treatments and examination of residents.
  • Checks residents in section regularly; Answers call light promptly; Follows through with resident problems or needs by delivering care or reporting to supervisor depending upon the level of ability and nature of the resident's need.
  • Provides residents’ hygiene by giving bedpans, urinals, baths, backrubs, shampoos, and shaves; assists with travel to the bathroom; helps with showers and baths.
  • Provides resident comfort by utilizing resources and materials; transporting residents; answering residents’ call lights and requests; and reporting observations of the resident to the nursing supervisor. 
  • Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice.

Requirements:

  • Valid state license(s) 
  • Excellent verbal communication skills and strong interpersonal skills 
  • High integrity and well-grounded work ethic 
  • Agility and flexibility with changing priorities 
  • Team-oriented and a practical team-player 
  • Professional demeanor 
  • At least one year of experience providing care and services in long-term care (preferred)
