The Advisory Team

Role Scope

Pollination is looking for a Director to join our dynamic office in Washington, DC. In this role, you will advise financial institutions, corporates, governments, and civil society organizations on all aspects of the transition to net-zero, nature-positive, and climate-resilient futures. You will bring your own deep expertise and insight to help our clients address some of the most pressing and challenging problems in the world. Pollination’s advisory approach is hands-on. Directors will support major aspects of client engagements, closely guided by an Executive Director and Managing Director.

Key Responsibilities

• Support and manage multiple advisory projects including client management and team and resource management.
• Support clients to identify their needs, problem solve, design bespoke approaches, execute analyses, and present/communicate results to address challenging nature/climate issues.
• Deliver high-quality, polished results, including designing analyses and approaches, structuring teams/resources for execution, and overseeing an engagement from beginning to end.
• Develop problem-solving strategies and assets across client groups or sectors, including developing Pollination IP and thought leadership.
• Support the impacts, growth, and development of the firm.

What We Are Looking For

• Approximately 8 years of professional experience managing food, agriculture, and/or forest initiatives with a focus on biodiversity and nature.
• Experience managing and contributing to large projects within a corporation, management consulting firm, government agency, NGO, or related organization.
• Strong commercial focus and literacy, with an ability to anticipate client needs and market developments, and a sensitivity for the commercial concerns of clients.
• Strong skills and experience related to one or more of the following: advancing regenerative agriculture, assessing and managing biodiversity and ecosystem services, implementing nature-based solutions, conducting nature-risk and opportunity assessments at landscape scales, and/or natural capital valuation and/or accounting to support decision making.
• Familiarity and experience with TNFD-aligned analyses, Science Based Targets for Nature, Science Based Targets for FLAG companies, deforestation-free supply chains, the Natural Capital Protocol and/or Natural Capital Accounting approaches for governments or businesses.
• Strong collaboration and teamwork skills, including a highly inclusive leadership style, and the ability to work with a distributed global team across various levels of seniority.
• A strong entrepreneurial mindset, with the ability to thrive and be self-directed in a very fast-paced growth environment.
• Experience with business development and proposal writing.
• A commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
• Graduate degree in nature finance, nature restoration or conservation, biodiversity and ecosystem measurement/analyses, regenerative agriculture, sustainable forestry, environmental science/economics, and/or related field.
