Basic Purpose:
Under the direction of the Body Shop Manager, the Body Shop Technician determines the cosmetic & structural damage sustained to all company vehicles. The Technician will then estimate costs for refurbishing, upgrading and repair, and restore such damaged vehicles to factory specifications.
Wages:
  • $24.00/hour - $28/hour
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Essential Duties:
  • Estimates parts cost and labor for cosmetic and structural damage to company vehicles
  • Coordinates work process with mechanics to collect part requirements and determine repair schedule.
  • Removes and reinstalls all vehicle body parts, which may also include upholstery, accessories, or electrical operating components.
  • Bolt, rivet, and weld replacement parts into place as required.
  • Replaces and installs glass windows to company vehicles.
  • Works on major vehicle body repairs and adjustments by using hand tools, portable power tools, and specification manuals.
  • Prepares vehicle evaluation reports for safety and maintenance department as directed.
  • Restores damaged vehicle frames and body sections to factory standards by using specialized equipment.
  • Repairs damaged vehicle upholstery, floors, and coverings.
  • Spray surfaces of vehicles with protective or decorative material such as paint, enamel, glaze, gelcoat, or lacquer.
  • Notifies management of any other additional repairs needed.
  • Complies with safety standards, FCMSA, OSHA and other safety regulations.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Vocational or technical school certification in the related work field preferred.
  • ASE or ICAR certification preferred.
Experience, knowledge, and skills required:
  • Two (2) years of experience in a vehicle body shop specializing in collision damage or vehicle painting required.
Knowledge, Experience & Other Requirements:
  • Able to use good judgment and sound decision-making while handling multiple projects.
  • Must be dependable and punctual to work as scheduled.
  • Possesses working knowledge of vehicle maintenance systems and applications relevant to body shop operations, including gas and electric welding.
  • Possesses excellent interpersonal communication skills which include speaking clearly and communicating effectively.
  • Requires the ability to stand and/or sit for extended periods of time.
  • Requires the ability to carry or lift objects that could weigh up to 75 lbs.
  • Able to work on the highest point of fleet vehicles.
  • Able to show initiative and complete tasks independently without supervision.
  • Able to follow specific instructions and safety procedures.
  • Possesses own field-related tools and have working knowledge in operating hand tools and portable power tools.
  • Must be able to pass HIOSH-required respirator testing.
  • Possesses a valid driver’s license with driver history record. CDL license preferred.
