Part Time Computer Science Teacher and Robotics Coach

Pope John Paul II Preparatory School seeks a computer science teacher who believes all students can grow and be successful in the computer science classroom. By sharing and collaborating with colleagues, our ideal candidate will push all students to think critically, reason logically, and develop skills and habits that will serve them during high school, and beyond.

We consider all candidates who apply for the position. The ideal candidate will:

• Demonstrate a passion for learning, computer science, and student growth through engaging, discovery-based lessons and assessments rooted in pedagogical research.
• Embody our optimistic vision for student success by providing appropriate scaffolding, support, and communication to students and families outside of class time.
• Incorporate coding so that it is approachable for all students and utilize online resources to enhance lessons and help develop a conceptual understanding of the material.
• Teach Introduction to Computer Science (1 section) and AP Computer Science A (1 section) classes across multiple grade levels.
• Collaborate with faculty members to create, improve, and implement teaching and assessment practices that align with the overall vision for each student at JPII.
• Model life-long learning for our students by participating in professional development to enhance pedagogical skills and subject expertise.

Robotics

• Build a strong robotics program after school where students are having fun while gaining understanding of the application of engineering and coding in robotics. 
• Organize and coordinate competitions throughout the year so that the students feel confident at regional, state and national competitions.
• Maintain budget and resources for the robotics program.
