EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
The IT Support Specialist provides service desk assistance and technical support for all Port users and staff. This includes troubleshooting and performing maintenance for desktop computers, printers and assorted peripherals. This position also works as a support role with the Systems Administrator to maintain the Port’s systems and network.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of the principles of information technology, including systems, workstations and network operations.Knowledge of Microsoft servers and Active Directory.Familiarity with Microsoft 365 administration. Experience and knowledge of Microsoft Office products.Knowledge of virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) environments & cloud storage solutions.Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and best practices. Experience with antivirus software, firewalls and intrusion detection systems.Knowledge of backup procedures, disaster recovery plans, and business continuity planning.Familiarity with databases, networks (LAN, WAN), and patch management tools. Understanding of networking concepts, including basic configuration of routers, switches and Wi-Fi networks. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical users in order to build and maintain effective working relationships.Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and requirements, and willingness to learn new technologies and adapt to changing or emerging trends.
