DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following responsibilities are required of the position, plus any other duties that may be required by the employer. Specific duties and responsibilities will be assigned by the Director of Nursing.
Determine students' health status upon arrival at the clinic and provide appropriate care and referral if necessary
Administer medications and perform selected health procedures per established guidelines
Assist students with health, hygiene, activities of daily living and other personal needs
Make referrals to school social worker, guidance counselor, administrator, school staff, and community agencies as appropriate
Notify site administrator or designee at once if an emergency situation exists, including notification if a call is made to 911. Make every reasonable attempt to notify the parent or emergency contact person regarding medical emergencies as soon as possible
Follow district protocol as contained in the clinic's procedure manual
Perform clerical duties regarding health services that include:
Organize, file, and maintain health information in a confidential manner
Documentation of health services provided
Communicate effectively with students, parents, staff, and community agencies while maintaining confidentiality
Keep the health room organized/orderly and clean at all times
Coordinate breaks and lunches with the school secretary as needed to ensure coverage in the office and clinic.
Perform other school health related duties as assigned by director or site administrator
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
Registered Nurse (RN) license
First Aid and CPR certification
Knowledge of areas of pediatric health including physical, emotional, and mental health
Ability to work independently or with others
Ability to communicate well with others
Ability to assess situations and act quickly
Ability to multitask
Computer experience with Word, Excel and Google apps preferred
Interest in working with children/adolescents and their health needs

Tasks involve the regular and, at times, sustained performance of moderately physically demanding work, typically involving some combination of standing, walking, sitting, climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and may involve the lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (25 pounds or more) as well as use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
