Porter Hospital is Hiring a Monitor Tech - Full Time Nights Near Valparaiso, IN

The Monitor Tech will utilize the technical skills identified in the unit specific competencies to independently provide continuous monitoring and interpretation of the electrocardiographic data to the Nursing staff and Physicians. Other duties as assigned.

Education:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
Certifications/Experience:
  • BLS required
Specific Monitor Tech duties and responsibilities can include:
  1. Performs ongoing surveillance of patients' cardiac monitors and provides appropriate nursing staff with timely notification of changes in cardiac rhythm.
  2. Interprets patient's cardiac rhythm and reports to nursing staff per department guidelines
  3. Answers telephone and communicates clearly
  4. Uses clear and complete communication with nursing units when delivering information about changes in cardiac rhythm.
  5. Orients and mentors new staff members and serves as a resource
  6. Provides report to oncoming shift
  7. Report monitoring equipment repairs in a timely manner
  8. Maintain clean and safe work area
