Job Location: The Armory - Portland, OR
Salary Range: $19.00 - $19.00 Hourly

Description

Portland Center Stage (PCS) is the largest theater company in Portland, Oregon, and our mission is to create transcendent theatrical experiences and community programs that break down the barriers separating people. Established in 1988 as a branch of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, the company became independent in 1994. PCS’s home is at The Armory, a historic building originally constructed in 1891. After a major renovation, The Armory opened in 2006 as the first building on the National Register of Historic Places, the first performing arts venue in the country, and the first building in Portland, to achieve a LEED Platinum rating. Each season, roughly 150,000 visitors attend PCS to enjoy a mix of classical, contemporary, and world premiere productions, along with PCS's annual JAW New Play Festival and a variety of high-quality education and community programs. We currently have an opportunity to join our Operations team to assist with building maintenance, cleaning, and event set-up.

On a typical day, you will:

  • Work with Operations Manager on essential tasks for maintenance and building improvement.

  • Clean and maintain our 56,000-square-foot facility, including two theatre spaces, administrative offices, event space, public bathrooms, and the exterior park and cafe spaces.

  • Set up for public and private events as specified, including moving and setting up furniture and equipment needed.

  • Oversee the lobby during ingress and egress of patrons.

  • Maintain accurate inventory of janitorial supplies and equipment.

  • Adhere to regulations and workplace safety rules.

  • Complete routine cleaning procedures and document work accordingly.

  • Assist Events, Development, and Community Programs staff as needed for special events

  • Engage with patrons and guests during open hours as needed

Join us if you possess the following:

  • Experience in building maintenance, equipment repair, and/or technical theatre.

  • Experience in janitorial and cleaning buildings and grounds of a large facility.

  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to evaluate the cleaning needs of a space

  • Proficiency in the use of materials, methods, practices, and equipment used in building cleaning and maintenance.

  • Efficient and appropriate time management skills, with the ability to learn show and event schedules to help identify special space considerations and priorities.

  • Standard computer, word processing, and email capability.

  • Ability to read and follow written reports, instructions, and OSHA regulations.

  • CPR/First Aid Certification is a plus.
