Key Responsibilities Manage Compensation Function Manages a team of professionals responsible for developing, implementing and overseeing the organizations compensation, benefit programs and corporate-wide budget for these programs. Oversees risk assessment and planning strategy and prioritization of initiatives. Provides guidance to the team, ensuring that objectives are met and all relevant standards/procedures are followed. Sets team strategy, goals and metrics. Collaborates with other departments to ensure alignment on goals and initiatives. Ensures operational problems are identified and resolved. Manages performance, motivates employees and provides coaching and feedback; oversees process improvement. Program Management Develops, implements and manages PGE compensation and benefits programs. Collaborates with benefits team to ensure Total Rewards packages are in alignment and complimenting each other. Works cross-functionally with other departments to provide education and visibility on total rewards programs. Financial Management Monitors and manages expenditures, ensuring that all financial targets are met, and examines any areas where budgets/expenditures vary from plan; assists with the definition and operation of effective financial controls and decision making. Resourcing Oversees resourcing decisions and planning for team; partners with HR in the definition of jobs, recruitment, evaluation and selection processes. Professional Development Reviews organizational development needs and training strategies to determine required learning and development outcomes for the team; provides guidance in the creation of development plans; monitors ongoing progress and provides coaching and mentoring and provides feedback; completes annual performance management reviews. Education/Experience/Certifications Education Requires a bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, finance or other related field or equivalent experience. Experience Typically eight or more years in related field. Certifications, Licenses and Training PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred. Other HR certifications a plus (e.g., CEBS, CBP, CCP, AIRS, ATD). Competencies (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities) Functional Competencies Advanced knowledge of compensation laws, principles, systems, methods, policies and practices Advanced knowledge of PGE’s human resources processes, systems and procedures Intermediate knowledge of PGE’s financial systems and relevant accounting and finance business processes and policies Intermediate knowledge of relevant utility industry regulations Advanced skills in project management Advanced knowledge of Microsoft office tools Intermediate knowledge of major corporate applications and associated integrations General Competencies Advanced customer focus skills Advanced decision-making skills Advanced knowledge of industry best practices Advanced skills in project management Advanced influence skills Advanced problem-solving skills Advanced skills in system and programs used in HR Advanced knowledge of PGE policies, procedures and plans Leader Practices Drives Results Plans and Aligns Decision Quality Drives Engagement Courage Physical and Cognitive Demands Cognitive Level Substantial: Consistent use of logic or scientific thinking to define problems, collect information, establish facts and draw valid conclusions (for example, engineer, HR director, plant manager, etc.). Cognitive Ability to adhere to set response times, deadlines and time-sensitive tasks Ability to follow accuracy standards Ability to follow through on decision-making tasks Ability to interact effectively and collaboratively within a team environment Ability to communicate and problem solve when under stress Ability to respond and adapt to frequent change Ability to accept and demonstrate self-awareness when provided constructive feedback Ability to discern feedback and acknowledge ownership of areas of improvement Ability to avoid future mistakes by applying reasonable skills to new but similar work situations or tasks Ability to successfully collaborate with peers, managers and others within the organization Demonstrates sound memory Ability to process new information to be applied consistently to work tasks Schedule/Attendance Ability to work long hours Ability to work a variable schedule Ability to perform work during periods of severe inclement weather Ability to consistently meet attendance standards for regular, reliable, predictable, full-time attendance Physical Capabilities ~3 days per week in office (World Trade Center) Computer use (use computer regularly for entire work shift) Environment Office Compensation Range: $116,410.00 - $216,190.00 Actual total compensation, including a performance based incentive bonus, is commensurate with experience, skills, qualifications, education, training, and internal equity. While we anticipate the selected candidate for this position will fall towards the middle or entry point of the compensation range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis.
