Portland Public Schools is Hiring a Social Emotional Learning Teacher (.8FTE) - Reiche Near Portland, ME
We are seeking a Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Teacher for Reiche Community School .8 (4 days a week, M-TH). This educator will teach social-emotional learning lessons to regularly scheduled classes of students through various instructional methods while being flexible for those who may need extra help grasping these concepts. This person will also work closely with teaching classroom teachers, special educators, ESOL educators, support staff, and administration to maximize academic and social-emotional success for all students.Job Responsibilities Include
Instruction: Providing SEL instruction to six 45-minute classes (K-5) throughout the school day (4 days a week)
Maintaining a positive, productive learning community
Effectively planning and implementing high-quality, research-based lessons with scaffolds so all students may access
Gathering and analyzing data to monitor students’ progress
Developing whole-class assignments for classroom teachers that give students the opportunity to practice their SEL skills
Professional Responsibilities: Participating in personal ongoing training or professional development opportunities and staying current with new SEL research and best practices, collaborate with Family Support Team
Communicate: the weekly main lesson objectives per grade level and ongoing learning to all staff through engaging weekly email blasts to the school community
Communicate: successes and growth through monthly newsletters to families (or sending content in for the Reiche Rocket- our school-wide weekly newsletter)
Leadership: Work with our Family Support Team to support school-wide Professional Development around best practices for emotional regulation strategies and conflict resolution skills
Strong candidates will be highly collaborative, flexible, skilled at differentiating instruction, committed to working toward equity and inclusion in a diverse learning community, and motivated to act as a school leader. Proper certification, State of Maine State General Elementary 020 (K-8), is required and teaching experience at the elementary level is preferred.Credential Requirements
