Portland Public Schools is Hiring a Special Education Educational Technician III - Resource Room (1.0 FTE) - Reiche (Multiple Openings) Near Portland, ME

Portland Public Schools is seeking Special Education Technicians III for the Resource Room at Reiche. We need educators who are excited to engage in reimagining and rebuilding our school’s identity to suit the students and staff here now. We have a diverse and amazing student population and an incredible core of educators deeply committed to the school community. At the direction of the principal, assists teachers by performing a variety of tasks that promote student learning and well being. Duties involve working with students individually and in small groups assessing performance, reinforcing instruction, motivating learning, assisting with classroom management, and performing clerical and other non-instructional work.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Ability to manage data management systems, analyze, ans synthesize data
  • Ability to Support teaching and learning
  • Ability to manage and oversee schoolwide testing procedures
  • Ability to interact with staff, students, parents, and other in an open, friendly, business-like manner.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Approval as an Educational Technician III by the Maine Department of Education.In the alternative, Maine provisional or professional teacher certification.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with a college degree that includes nine credit hours related to an education field such as behavior management or classroom strategies, and to candidates who have at least one year of experience working with students in structured situations.
