POSITION TITLE: BEHAVIOR INTERVENTIONIST

REPORTS TO: COORDINATOR, YOUTH-RISK PREVENTION
OVER-TIME STATUS: EXEMPT PAY GRADE: 374
Performs difficult professional and intermediate administrative work coordinating, planning and assisting with Office of Youth Risk Prevention, Title I, and Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction. This is sedentary work requiring the exertion of up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects; work requires fingering, and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for preparingand analyzing written or computer data, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is not subject to adverse environmental conditions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Assist the Office of Youth Risk Prevention Coordinator with district wide discipline initiatives for targeted behavior.
  • Prepare professional development that focus on targeted instructional strategies to improve behavior and classroom management
  • Facilitate sustainability and expansion of PBIS practices and character education to identified Title I school(s).
  • Provide and/or facilitate quality training at all three tiers of PBIS.
  • Provide ongoing training, coaching, and support to Title I building level PBIS Coaches.
  • Perform SWIS data collection, management, and analysis for Title I school discipline.
  • Train and provide ongoing technical and data analysis support to staff who use school-wide data collection systems (SWIS, PBIS Assessments).
  • Collect and monitor school databases to track and analyze student behavior date
  • including office discipline referrals, suspensions, team implementation, coach assessment of school-wide implementation, and climate survey patterns
  • Participate in regional, statewide, and national PBIS leadership conferences and meetings.
  • Assist staff in: defining and measuring behavior; understanding principles ofreinforcement; teaching new behavior; implementing strategies for weakening behavior; and identifying antecedents.
  • Design Behavior I nterventions Plans that address classroom organization, social skills instruction, and School-wide Positive Behavioral Support
  • Use ongoing assessments to maintain a record of student progress.
  • Provide recognition of a variety of student accomplishments and positive behaviors.
  • Conduct conflict resolution and peer mediation sessions
JOB SPECIFICATIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

General knowledge of techniques needed to successfully complete effective Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA), function -based interventions, and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP). Ability to use technology effectively for instruction, research, record keeping and other administrative tasks, and communications including Internet research, MS Office, Power School, School Wide Systems of Information Systems (SWIS) and educational software to support the behavior program; Possess a high caliber of expertise in counseling and student and family support; Ability to work on multiple projects and respond to requests and deadlines in an accurate, timely manner; Demonstrated written and oral communication skills; and excellent interpersonal/human relations skills. Bachelor's Degree in Education, Social Work, Counseling, Special Education, or related field as required.
