JOB SUMMARY: Individuals in this position will be responsible for completing diagnostic assessments and providing ongoing psychiatric treatment. Treatment includes, but is not limited to, initial and ongoing medication management, providing client education, coordinating with the client’s treatment team to create a comprehensive treatment plan, and crisis intervention when needed. This position may also include supervision of psychiatric mid-levels. The individual willreport directly to the supervising psychiatrist.
Requirements
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Conducting and completing comprehensive psychiatric evaluations
• Diagnosing mental health and substance use disorders based upon all available information
• Developing a psychiatric treatment plan, measuring the progress towards achieving the goals, and adjusting if/when needed
• Prescribing medication and providing ongoing medication management
• Providing appropriate follow-up care to assess individual’s response to medication and treatment and to assess for potential side effects
• Provide culturally appropriate care and support for clients
.• Providing crisis intervention as needed and assisting with connecting clients to acute and higher-level care
• Completing all necessary clinical documentation in an accurate and timely manner
• Serve as medical/psychiatric education resource and consultant as needed
• Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Demonstration of knowledge of issues specific to those with HIV/AIDS
• Working knowledge of diagnostic criteria for mental health and substance use disorders
• Knowledge of standard of care protocols for mental health and substance use disorder treatment
• Ability to work cooperatively as a part of an interdisciplinary team
Minimum Qualifications:
• Current and valid board certification in psychiatry
• Medical degree from an accredited medical school and completion of an approved psychiatric residency• Licensed to practice medicine in the state of Georgia
• Prescriptive authorization including the ability to prescribe schedule II-V medications
• Knowledge of the treatment protocols for patients with multiple diagnoses,specifically co-occurring disorders and dual diagnoses
Experience:
• Experience working with an interdisciplinary treatment team
• Minimum 1 year of experience working with chemically dependent/mental health clientele preferred.
License/Licensure:
Valid State of Georgia medical license
