Summary:

The Saw Operator is responsible for helping deliver profitable growth by completing machining functions accurately, efficiently, and safely. Power Test Saw Operators will be tasked with operating a horizontal band saw, reading blueprints, tape measures and calipers. This position plays a critical role in maintaining and organizing the department, as well as supporting the department through other duties and tasks as assigned. The Saw Operator is a good fit for anyone who is interested in starting a career at an industry leading manufacture.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform standardized and repetitive machine operations to meet tolerance and finish requirements.
  • Adjust machine and feeds according to standard procedures.
  • Optimizing machine processes, produce parts accurately and efficiently.
  • Read and follow procedures and specifications to complete basic setups and operations on standardized machine sequences and dimensions.
  • Read and interpret basic drawings. Report necessary corrections to engineers or supervision.
  • Complete first piece inspection and use basic measuring and inspection tools to ensure parts conform to specifications.
  • Maintain quality and safety standards.
  • Operate a forklift or crane when necessary.
  • Follow company procedures to complete assignments. Complete required records.
  • Communicate concerns to manager timely.
  • Maintain a clean and neat work area.
  • Participate in and contribute to continuous improvement culture, including Lean initiatives.
  • Work effectively as a team member to contribute to a positive workplace.
  • Demonstrate and support company values.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

Qualifications


Education and/or Experience Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Some experience working with mechanical tools or equipment (hand tools and power tools), this experience may have come through a high school shop class
  • Ability to read a ruler and tape measure
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Mechanical — Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • English Language — Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
  • Production and Processing — Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Mathematics — Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and their applications.
  • Computer Skills - Basic computer skills and Manufacturing Software skills are preferred, but not required.
