We are recruiting for an experienced Manager of Attorney Recruitment.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

In concert with the Chief Talent Officer (“CTO”) and other members of the Attorney Development and Recruitment Department (“AD&R”), the Manager of Attorney Recruitment (“Manager”) will have day-to-day responsibility for associate, professional attorney track, patent agent, summer associate, and occasional contract attorney hiring, including collaborating with other members of AD&R in onboarding and integrating these hires. The Manager will also collaborate with the Chief Talent Officer to establish and achieve Firm specific goals in lateral attorney retention and diversity in recruitment. The Manager will also research, recommend and implement industry best practices and process improvements.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

· Looking to fill this role in Detroit, MI, Grand Rapids, MI, Chicago, IL, or Washington D.C. The work schedule is hybrid.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Recruiting:

· Partner with Firm, department and practice group leadership, the summer associate hiring partners, and members of the AD&R team to establish and execute on lateral associate, professional track, and patent agent search strategies, across all client departments, practice areas and offices.

· Responsible for developing go to market plans, direct sourcing and recruiting of targeted candidates.

· Develop and manage relations with outside recruiters and search firms.

· Manage full lifecycle lateral associate, professional track, patent agent, and summer associate recruitment across all of client’s departments, practice areas and offices:

o Establish lateral associate candidate search strategy and criteria for each need;

o Where appropriate, engage search firm and referral sources and/or research, identify and contact prospects directly for recruitment;

o Coordinate the interview process internally and externally with summer associate hiring partners, candidates, and search firm contacts;

o Review candidate materials, sharing qualified candidate materials with key stakeholders for each search;

o Assist with screening interviews and decision-making process;

o Establish candidate expectations, if proceeding to offer; and

o Navigate the due diligence and offer processes.

· Communicate with relevant stakeholders and operations team members in real time regarding the status of all candidates in process.

· Liaise with all relevant departments to achieve seamless onboarding of new hires, including office services, technology, Attorney Development, Human Resources, training, payroll, etc.

· In pursuing the Firm’s recruiting objectives; strategize with the CTO as to when/how to engage search firms, partners, and other network resources to enhance external awareness of the Firm’s brand, performance, vision and factors of competitive distinction to advance the Firm’s talent management performance and objectives.

Onboarding & Integration:

· Collaborate with other members of AD&R to manage lateral associate onboarding process, including identifying priority introductions, and working with Professional Development to identify mentor(s) and relevant areas for training focus.

· Confer with the CTO on relevant practice group goals, practice group business development efforts, etc., to ensure new lateral associates, professional track attorneys, and patent agents are integrated in line with these objectives.

· Design and implement methods to track integration progress and measure integration success.

· In conjunction with the CTO, report out on relevant integration findings to Firm leadership.

Other Responsibilities:

· Facilitate the Firm’s continued expansion of its diversity recruitment efforts, including assisting with creation of diversity pipelines for future associate, summer associate, professional track, and patent agent hiring.

· Stay well informed on competitive attorney recruiting market protocols and trends.

· Collaborate with the CTO to evaluate Firm practices and performance; research, recommend and implement approved changes to continuously evolve the Firm’s recruiting and integration processes with new insights.

· Assist with developing recruiting materials and collateral shared with candidates and search firm contacts.

· Remain adept at leveraging Firm technology and databases; including viDesktop, Firm Prospects, and Interaction, as well as Firm systems like Microsoft Office, FileSite and Collaborate.

· Establish and maintain strong working relationships with other client operations teams including IT, Finance, Human Resources and Business Development/Marketing to coordinate attorney recruitment and onboarding and increase retention.

· In conjunction with the CTO, facilitate attorney recruitment budget and budget process.

· Mentor, train, and supervise administrative staff responsible for attorney recruitment.

· Contribute to a collaborative, collegial department environment.

· Participate in professional association activities for personal and professional development.

QUALIFICATIONS:

· A minimum of five years of prior recruiting experience in a law firm or professional services organization.

· A bachelor's degree is required. An advanced degree is preferred.

· Must be technically proficient in a wide variety of software (e.g. Firm Prospects, Microsoft Office Suite, viRecruit).

· A proven record of accomplishment in recruitment of lateral attorneys and summer associates within a law firm environment.

· Exhibit a client service mindset and a commitment to communicate with and inspire the larger team involved in hiring.

· Strong ability to collaborate and engage with partners and business professionals.

· Must be a creative problem solver and possess a high level of self-confidence, maturity, and excellent judgment.

· Ability to maintain highly confidential and sensitive information.

· Demonstrate a professional demeanor and the ability to display poise and diplomacy in difficult situations.

· A proven ability to take ownership of matters to drive towards a successful result, but also collaborate with the team to foster discussion and consensus.

· Exceptionally strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize a number of responsibilities, while maintaining accuracy.

· Excellent written and oral communication skills – including the ability to tailor the communication style to a specific audience.

· Knowledge of the legal market and industry trends is important, as is a willingness to learn.

· Ability to travel domestically may be required for this position.
