If so, then you’ve come to the right place! General Summary This position is responsible for management of the laboratory, all lab testing, and technicians. This position oversees all quality control procedures and is responsible for maintaining all laboratory accreditation programs (AMRL, ASTM, State). This position is also responsible for sampling, testing, inspection and design of construction materials and elements both a laboratory and field setting to ensure compliance with the supplier and/or owner specifications. Essential Job Accountabilities Conduct sampling, testing and inspection of soil, aggregate, hot mix asphalt (HMA) and Portland cement concrete (PCC) in both a laboratory and field setting to ensure compliance with the supplier and/or owner specifications. Oversee and assign work schedules for technicians to ensure optimum use of resources. Train technicians on sampling, testing and inspection of construction materials to prepare them for additional certification. Review sampling, testing, inspecting and design results from Technicians to ensure quality standards are being met. Perform design of soils, HMA, or PCC in order to comply with supplier and/or owner specifications. Collaborate with production personnel to ensure material process corrections are implemented. Assist or conduct safety meetings and inspections to provide a safe working environment. Assist with customer service issues to ensure customer satisfaction levels are maintained. Maintain laboratory standards to ensure ongoing program state and national accreditations (AMRL, ASTM) are maintained with emphasis on lab equipment. Participate in and promote Granite’s safety procedures to promote a safe working environment including assistance with safety meeting and inspection. Comply with OSHA and MSHA rules and regulations in order to perform duties in a safe manor. Education/Certification High school diploma required Regional or State Agency certification for material being sampled, tested, inspected required NICET III certification desired Work Experience 5 years of related experience required Knowledge, skills, and abilities Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Ability to supervise technical staff Strong organizational skills Good oral and written communication skills Physical Demand The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit and use hands to operate a computer keyboard. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus. Ability and willingness to travel to projects outside of the home office area. May be required to be away from home office for up to 4 weeks at a time. Base Salary Range: $52,693.00 - $79,039.00 Pay may vary based upon relevant experience, skills, location, and education among other factors.
