SummarySurgical Associates, the largest private surgical practice in Wisconsin, is looking to grow its Acute Care/ Trauma team.Surgical Associates is comprised of 16 surgeons that sub specialize in vascular, trauma, hepatobiliary, surgical oncology, bariatric, plastic, breast and general surgery.Surgical Associates provides surgical care at Aspirus Wausau Hospital and outpatient at Pine Ridge Surgery Center.Surgical Associates recently opened our second Wausau office which is the home to our Eleve Medspa, a division of Surgical Associates.
Our patients come from a 13-county region throughout Northcentral Wisconsin and the UP of Michigan.With the growth of our practice, we are now in need of an additional Trauma Critical Care Surgeon.
Our facility is a level two trauma center where currently five physicians provide care for the Trauma and ACS service lines with 1:3/1:4 weekend call. We have two APP’s assigned to trauma/ACS that assist with daily rounds and patient care at night. As well, the group has surgical scrub techs/APP’s that assist in the OR during the day. We have one resident that rotates through the service 8-10 months per year. We are looking to transition our current care to provide continuous surgical critical care with the development of a SICU in the next year. We are looking to hire two surgical critical care surgeons to transition to this model and provide care at one hospital.
The new hires will have the ability to help develop the transition to a new service line and the development of a SICU. On average, the ACS service has 15-25 patients per week and performs 60 cases per month. The trauma service census is 10-25 patients and is mainly blunt trauma mechanisms.
Physician Schedule
12-14 shifts per month (12 hour)
6-7 call days per month
1 :3 – 1:4 Weekends required
Additional call and weekend pay available
Sign on bonus negotiable
Guarantee Compensation range $400K to $500K Depending on experience
Elective procedures are optional, not required

EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE
- Board Certified/Board Eligible General Surgeon who is also certified in Surgical Critical Care and/or has Acute Care Surgery or Trauma Surgery Fellowship training
- ATLS required
- ABS Certification required
