We are seeking an experienced payroll professional who enjoys supporting clients an working closely with a team. This role is instrumental in managing the end-to-end payroll processes for our diverse clientele. This position requires a seasoned payroll professional with over 3 years of experience, possessing a deep understanding of payroll policies, federal and state labor compliance, and overtime laws across multiple states. The ideal candidate will not only excel in executing day-to-day payroll functions but also play a pivotal role in partnering with clients to optimize payroll systems, implement controls, and ensure continuous accuracy and evolution of processes.

Job Essential Responsibilities:

  • Execute day-to-day payroll operations, managing weekly, semi-monthly, and monthly client payroll across multiple states.
  • Navigate intricacies such as wage garnishments and payroll deductions with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Conduct seamless transfers to various third parties, handling retirement contributions, payroll taxes, wage assignments, and garnishments.
  • Lead month-end close processes, involving agency reporting, comprehensive general ledger auditing, and the adept preparation and posting of journal entries.
  • Execute quarterly and annual processes, ensuring accurate filing of crucial reports such as 941, 940, W2, and others.
  • Maintain a steadfast commitment to compliance with federal and state labor policies and regulations.
  • Collaborate with clients and their business partners to define, establish, and optimize payroll systems, processes, and procedures.
  • Implement controls to ensure a well-mitigated risk environment for the client.
  • Facilitate the seamless set-up and implementation of new payroll clients, ensuring a smooth transition and optimal integration into existing systems.
  • Conduct routine audits and analyses of client payrolls, ensuring continuous accuracy and proactively contributing to the evolution of processes.
  • Address ad hoc client requests with flexibility and responsiveness, showcasing a commitment to client satisfaction.
  • Develop and refine comprehensive Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for payroll processes, ensuring a structured framework for consistency and excellence.
  • Work alongside, assist, and provide training to fellow colleagues on payroll principles and client-specific processes, fostering a culture of shared expertise.

Experience:

  • 3 years’ of hands-on experience in a Payroll role
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a similar field is a bonus
  • Strong working knowledge of payroll policies, federal and state labor compliance, and overtime laws in multiple states.
  • General understanding of accounting principles.
  • Highly proficient in using payroll software
  • Ability to work in multiple payroll systems in conjunction with one another
  • High level of accuracy with minimal errors in all work
  • Ability to work closely with internal and external customers in a professional manner
  • Ability to work in an environment of continuous process improvement.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks at a time with minimal supervision

This person will be required to talk and hear, sit and use their hands and fingers to handle or feel and to manipulate keys on a keyboard. Requires face to face discussions with individuals and teams.
