Job Summary
This full-time (0.9 status or 36 hours/week) position assists with the planning and evaluating of Hemodialysis services and provides nursing care for dialysis patients. Delivers hemodialysis services to chronic outpatients and will provide treatment to inpatients and acute patients as needed.
This position will work in our Watertown Dialysis Unit.
Responsibilities include:
  • Facilitates the coordination, integration of interdepartmental care and services provided to dialysis patients.
  • Participates in department Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) program ensuring staff participation in the process and identifying opportunities to improve patient outcomes. This can include daily, weekly and monthly audits.
  • Utilizes the nursing process in providing care and including the process in documentation, identifying unusual conditions, utilizing initiative judgment to carry out appropriate responses. Documentation to be predominantly through an Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
  • Initiates a patient education plan according to the individualized needs of the patient, as prescribed by Physician and/or hospital policy including patient and family instruction.
  • Observes, assesses patients, records significant conditions, reactions, notifies supervisor of patient's condition, reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents throughout the progression of care.
  • Operates and monitors Reverse Osmosis (RO) water system.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s in nursing or Associates Degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school in an approved accredited Registered Nurse Program. Minimum of one-year experience in a medical/surgical unit is preferred.
Holds or is eligible for current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of South Dakota and may be required to apply for a Minnesota RN license.
Mandatory Basic and Advanced Life Support Training per policy
Prairie Lakes Healthcare System has a Drug Free Workplace Policy. An accepted offer will require a drug screen and pre-employment background screening as a condition of employment.
