Title: Porter/maintenance

Supervisor: Superintendent or Site Director

Category: Non-Exempt

Job Summary:

Clean and maintain Praxis-managed buildings and properties, such as DHS Shelters or SROs. Monitor hallways and other public areas.

Duties:

A) Buffing, sweeping, mopping, housekeeping of residential rooms, common areas and bathrooms.

B) Cleaning common areas and bathrooms with appropriate cleansers and in compliance with OSHA and Universal Safety precautions

C) Receiving hotel visitors and directing them to the appropriate party. Ensuring that all visitors comply with house rules and visiting hours.

D) Responsible for reporting inventory of supplies to Building Manager.

E) Distributing personal items and linen to residents.

F) Light painting and touch-ups in residents’ rooms and in public areas.

G) Assisting renovations team or building Superintendent with higher-skill level repairs when directed.

H) Assisting residents by following emergency protocols to secure needed assistance from police, fire, or ambulance services.

I) Assisting in renovations team or building super with higher-skill level repairs when needed.

J ) Are able to work any shift in case of staff out on sick, vacation and or facility operational needs.

K) Any other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications:

Education: High School Diploma, GED or pursuing an educational plan to obtain GED within 6 months of employment

Experience: Some experience in building maintenance.

Skills:

Must be able to perform building maintenance duties, lift objects, stand for extended time periods, follow emergency protocols, and comply with applicable OSHA and Universal Safety Precautions.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.50 per hour

Expected hours: 35 – 45 per week

Ability to Relocate:

• New York, NY 10025: Relocate before starting work (Required)
