Assistant Tasting Room Manager

Precept Wine is the largest privately owned wine company in the Northwest. We’re seamlessly integrated to run our own vineyards, wineries, and world-class tasting rooms. Currently we are looking for the best and brightest to fill an immediate opening for an Assistant Tasting Room Manager at our Sawtooth Tasting Room in Caldwell, ID. The Assistant Tasting Room Manager reports directly to the Tasting Room Manager.

The Assistant Tasting Room Manager will provide leadership, training and coaching to the team to ensure the success and development of each event; provide the best of class customer service through engagement, follow up and effective selling and event hosting techniques; ensuring that operations of each event are well thought-out and executed with efficiency through strong communication with the management team, staff members, corporate office and customers.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to; 

• Provide a welcoming atmosphere and unique tasting experience to all guests
• Describe wines, winemaking techniques, and winery history to all guest
• Effectively Suggest and sell wine as well as event experiences
• Promote wine club sign ups and engagement in tasting room events
• Connect and communicate with a diverse clientele
• Interact with the public and make them feel welcomed
• Accurately handle routine purchasing transactions, including operating cash register and accounting of daily sales; processing returns, discounts, etc.
• Provide general tourist information and assist guests as local concierge
• Stock, track and reorder both wine and non-wine items
• Assist with hospitality special events planning and coordination
• Act as the direct assistant for the tasting room manager including
• Train and coach staff members on a daily basis
• Communicate effectively with the tasting room manager and the rest of the management team
• Prepare weekly employee work schedules, retail sales report, manage monthly inventory and prepare payroll
• Resolve customer and employee issues
• Oversee merchandise, wine and supplies ordering and inventory
• Respond to customer emails, inquiries and orders
• Guide staff members positively and effectively to successful sales and customer interaction
• Complete tasks as assigned by your direct supervisor
• Event planning and booking (caterers, musicians, chefs, vendors, etc.)

Desired Skills and Requirements:

• 2 years’ customer service experience
• 1 year supervisory and sales experience 
• Must be 21 year of age
• Passion for wine
• Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information
• Ability to lift items up to 40lbs
• Ability to stand, walk, and talk for lengthy periods of time 
• Must be able to understand and accurately follow written and verbal instructions
• Demonstrated people and strong problem solving skills
• Strong computer skills with Excel and POS software 
• Availability to work weekends and evenings especially during special events
