Major Tool & Machine (MTM) is seeking advanced machinists who are looking to gain more exposure to machining large components on advanced 5-axis, precision machines.
Whether it is turning, drilling, or milling, MTM maintains a unique collection of over 40 CNC machine tools, and tooling accessories to satisfy the most demanding machining requirements. We have the ability to precision machine tight tolerance components ranging from 6 inches to 90 feet and up to several tons.

Job Duties
- Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings, routing instructions, manuals, specifications or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations and setup requirements.
- Properly select, align, and secure work holding. Must be able to improvise setups using common tooling such as risers, angle plates, etc.
- Monitor and/or develop speed, feed, depth or angle of cut during machining operations.
- Must observe machine operation to predict or detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining conditions and adjust machine controls or control media as required.
- Verify that all machined details are produced in a manner that meets print or router specifications, using precision measuring instruments. Request first piece inspection when producing multiple piece runs.
- Monitor and maintain proper cleanliness of machine and work area on a daily basis.
Requirements
- A minimum of four years of trade school, vocational education, or apprenticeship.
- Specialized experience with particular materials, products, precision level, machining process or size, type, or trade name of machine.
- A minimum of three to five years of CNC machining experience
- High Speed machining (16-27k RPM)
- Part and tool probing
- General machining knowledge, shop math, precision measuring instruments, blueprint reading, and GD&T knowledge.
- Knowledge of Siemens 840D Control software a plus.
