The Environmental Health Safety Specialist monitors activities and functions ensures compliance and makes recommendations for improvement to ensure adherence to the established policies, procedures and requirements of the EHS functions for multiple Precision facilities. Must be well versed in OSHA regulations, particularly in a manufacturing environment. Must possess a positive attitude, be proactive, a strong communicator, coach, teacher and be highly observant and skilled in various problem-solving techniques aimed at eliminating potential hazards in the workplace.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Develop and execute health and safety plans in the workplace according to legal guidelines.
· Prepare and enforce policies to establish a culture of health and safety at multiple work sites
· Evaluate practices, procedures, and facilities to assess risk and adherence to the law.
· Performs EHS training, including Safety, Emergency Action Plan drills, New-Hire Orientation, Daily/ Weekly Toolbox Topics and specialized training such as forklifts, cranes, etc.;
· Monitor compliance to policies and laws by inspecting employees and operations.
· Inspect equipment and machinery to observe possible unsafe conditions.
· Investigates accidents and near misses; and enhances safe, efficient site operations.
· Recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities, or new prevention measures.
· Report on health and safety awareness, issues, and statistics; Complete daily/weekly/monthly metrics
· Ensures compliance with organization & government EHS standards
· Develops procedures to assure continuing compliance with regulations & organization standards;
· Handles regulatory inspections/ visits
· Completes reports for submission to EPA, OSHA or other regulatory agencies
· Conducts thorough accident investigations, property damages, with follow up corrective action;
