Position Overview: Sets up, adjust, and change over various machines for cutting tubed based upon customer specifications.
Starts machine to test adjustments and examines test pieces for defects such as burs, correct cut
angle and depth. Readjusting as needed.
Essential Job Functions
• Perform all set-up steps to load, operate and tear down as rotary cutting machine.
•Perform all changeover process steps to load, operate, and tear down rotary cutting machine.
•Select correct mandrel size based upon job/work order, inspecting mandrel for obvious damage due to stress or other factors.
•Adjust set screws, and power blade settings if necessary, spacing circular cutting blades to specification based on job/work order.
•Start machine to test adjustments and examine test pieces for defects such as burs, correct cut angle and depth, and readjusting as needed.
•Install and adjust feed mechanisms, guide rollers, tracks, machine fittings, and attachments, according to job/work order.
•Sharpen machine punches and blades, and disassembles machines, replacing worn or defective parts.
•Maintain equipment in proper working order. Perform regular scheduled preventative maintenance as required.
•Meet quality and efficiency standards.
•Manages one’s time to reduce machine down time during change-over, equipment and process adjustments.
•Perform required tasks and assignments with a focus on Safety, Quality, and Delivery.
•Participate in team dynamics, aiding others as needed, seek help as needed.
•Maintain a clean and safe work environment and promote safety with others.
Skills/Qualifications
•High School Diploma or equivalent required.
•Ability to work as a team member and assist others; contributing knowledge, skills, time, and effort.
•Ability to persevere, be patient and diligent toward completing the job assignment, and detail oriented.
•Easily adaptable and willing to learn, able to remember basic process steps to ensure accuracy and quality while making approve adjustments as needed.
•Basic understanding of mechanical equipment and mechanisms.
•Ability to watch, listen and learn.
•Good eye-hand coordination.
•Ability to identify and solve problems as they arise; material, mechanical, and/or process.
•Ability to manage one’s time and plan/prepare for material and/or equipment changes as needed.
•Experience/operational exposure with floor manufacturing facilities, including functional design layout, routine mechanical operations, productivity, supplies/materials planning and handling, inventory systems and controls, shipping and receiving, OSHA safety standards, etc.
•Ability to read measurement tools; tape measure, micrometers, and calipers and perform basic math calculations using fractions and decimals.
