Who We AreAs a Precision Vehicle Holdings company, Precision Vehicle Logistics was originally created in 2014. Precision Vehicle Logistics is focused on yard management working in partnership with labor unions. PVL offers a full range of vehicle processing services for origin facilities, destination ramps, and ports – including rail loading and unloading.
What You’ll DoAs a key member of the Operations team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring operational excellence and upholding safety standards, with a strong focus on promoting a positive work culture. Success in this role will require exceptional interpersonal skills and proficiency in problem-solving. As a Rail Network Supervisor, you’ll be responsible for:
  • Ensure a safe and harassment and discrimination free work environment by following and enforcing all safety rules and procedures, all company policies, applicable laws and Precision values.
  • Contribute to and model the continuous improvement of safety, efficiency, and work environment.
  • Transmit and explain work assignments to employees.
  • Review work throughout the work process, to identify and correct deficiencies, including damage and loss prevention, and at completion to ensure quality, efficiency and compliance with AAR, Customer and Company standards.
  • Conduct routine inspections of Rail Cars to ensure meets company expectations.
  • Conduct daily work area inspections to ensure all safety hazards are identified and corrective actions taken, to include reporting hazards to appropriate department/manager.
  • Assign duties to ensure adequate use of resources (people, equipment, supplies).
  • Participate in personnel functions such as timekeeping, payroll data entry, selection, training, performance evaluation, disciplinary meetings, and investigations.
  • Responsible for all records, reports, accuracy, and timeliness of attendance, time-off for scheduling crew.
  • Great employees, customers, visitors, and handle their inquiries or direct them to the appropriate people according to their needs.
  • Provide accurate and timely responses to employee inquiries regarding payroll, benefits, etc.
  • Coordinate activities with other supervisory personnel or with other work units/departments.
  • Maintain and ensure all personnel records are properly and securely stored in accordance with all company policies and local, state, and federal laws.
  • Consult with site operations team and People Services to identify, correct, and improve all employee related processes to ensure site and organizational goals are being met.
  • Participate in personnel functions such as training and conducting investigations.
  • All other duties as required for safe, efficient, effective and compliant operations as assigned by manager.
  • Select vehicles for loading based on defined criteria.
  • Quality handling and distribution of new vehicles (post-production).
  • Controlling vehicles in holding lot / facility through software.
  • Scanning and assigning vehicles to railcars through software procedures.
  • Conducting and documenting damage inspection.
  • Ensuring crew is scanning and receiving into inventory inbound vehicles.
  • Ensuring crew id loading, securing, and unloading vehicles to and from train railcars for transport and quality handling in accordance with both AAR and Customer standards.
  • All other duties as required for safe, efficient, effective, and compliant operations.
Candidate RequirementsWe are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Rail Supervisor with 1-3 years of supervisory experience. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, including active listening, effective verbal and written communication, negotiation, coaching, and conflict resolution. They will also demonstrate the ability to effectively motivate team members.
  • Proficient in interpreting and administering Collective Bargaining Agreements.
  • Computer proficiency essential, particularly in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proficiency in logical reasoning, applying general principles to specific issues, and generating sensible solutions.
  • Demonstrated capability to motivate, develop, train, and supervise individuals, ensuring optimal task allocation.
  • Strong aptitude for effective time management.
  • Must hold a current, valid driver’s license and maintain a clean driving record.
  • Ability to pass drug screening and criminal background check.
Physical Demands of the Job
  • The employee is required to conduct themselves safely while working in an active shipping and rail yard.
  • The employee is required to safely enter and exit customer cars, railcars, and other equipment.
  • The employee is frequently required to move about on concrete and uneven surfaces for extended periods of time (4-8 hours).
  • The employee is frequently required to remain stationary for extended periods (4-8 hours).
  • The employee is required to converse and listen in office and industrial settings (indoor & outdoor; noise level is high at times).
  • The employee is required to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, ascend or descend ladders safely at heights of 10 feet or more, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee is regularly required to lift and carry up to 40 pounds unassisted.
  • The vision requirements: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and adjust focus
Additional Information
  • This position requires the employee to be onsite full-time.
  • A person applying for this position must be available to work up to 40 hours per week as required.
  • As an employee, you will be responsible for retaining a valid driver's license, free from any drug or alcohol-related driving convictions or reckless driving and always remain “insurable” while operating company owned or controlled vehicles.
