Job Overview:

A Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness in production. This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams, including design, production, quality, and maintenance, to ensure seamless manufacturing operations and continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.

  • Experience: 3-5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering or a related field.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in process design and optimization tools (e.g., CAD, CAM, FMEA).
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other process improvement methodologies.
  • Experience with manufacturing technologies and equipment, such as CNC machining, automation, and robotics.
  • Familiarity with quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001) and statistical process control (SPC).

Working Conditions:

  • Primarily based in a manufacturing facility.
  • May require occasional travel to other sites, suppliers, or customers.
  • Exposure to industrial environments, requiring adherence to safety protocols.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) when working in production areas.

Key Responsibilities:

Process Design and Development:

  • Design and develop efficient manufacturing processes for new and existing products.
  • Create detailed process documentation, including process flow diagrams, work instructions, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Select appropriate equipment, tools, and materials to optimize manufacturing operations.

Process Improvement:

  • Analyze existing manufacturing processes to identify areas for improvement.
  • Implement process improvements using lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other methodologies to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and improve quality.
  • Conduct time and motion studies to optimize workflow and reduce cycle times.

Quality Assurance:

  • Develop and implement quality control measures to ensure products meet specifications and standards.
  • Collaborate with quality engineers to perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for production defects.
  • Conduct regular process audits to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Production Support:

  • Provide technical support to production teams to resolve process-related issues.
  • Assist in troubleshooting equipment and process problems to minimize downtime.
  • Train production staff on new processes, equipment, and best practices.

Project Management:

  • Lead projects related to the development and implementation of new manufacturing processes.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project execution.
  • Develop project plans, timelines, and budgets, and monitor project progress.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Ensure manufacturing processes comply with safety regulations and company policies.
  • Develop and implement safety procedures to minimize risks and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Participate in safety audits and address any identified safety concerns.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain detailed documentation of manufacturing processes, equipment specifications, and quality control measures.
  • Prepare reports on process performance, improvement initiatives, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Document and communicate best practices and lessons learned to the engineering team.
