Premistar is Hiring a Payroll Manager Near Roselle, IL

Located in our Roselle, IL facility and reporting to the BU Controller, the Payroll Manager will oversee and supervise the BU’s payroll function while providing knowledge and leadership for all thing payroll related. This role will be responsible for ensuring pay is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with all governmental regulations. Responsibilities:
  • Oversees and supervises the BU’s payroll functions, ensuring pay is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with government regulations across multiple divisions and payroll schedules.
  • Acts as a subject matter expert and/or resource to others in payroll taxes, certified payroll, and union reporting.
  • Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
  • Identifies, recommends, and implements updates and improvements to payroll processing, procedures, and internal controls. Inform management of changes to tax requirements that impact the company and/or employees.
  • Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.
  • Ensures that all union reporting and certified payrolls are filed in an accurate, timely manner.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
  • Ensures the timely and accurate processing of quarterly and annual state, local, and federal tax filings.
  • Key liaison with third party payroll processor.
  • Coordinate the accurate and timely production of W2 forms annually, including reporting of files.
  • Compiles and validates the accuracy of payroll report data for internal business partners to facilitate reconciliation and reporting requirements.
  • Respond promptly to inquiries for information from external and internal customers including taxing authorities, union representatives, and customers.
  • Maintain all levels of confidentiality, especially with sensitive payroll information.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field experience.
  • CPP certification preferred.
  • 5 years of progressive experience in Payroll and/or HR or Accounting.
  • Knowledge of Payroll and Payroll Tax requirements, processes, controls, and best practices.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations governing payment, taxation, and reporting of wages.
  • Good knowledge of HRIS-Payroll integrated systems, Advanced Excel functions, accounting.
  • Experience working in a multi-union environment.
  • Must be able to meet strict deadlines.
  • Very good communication skills.
  • Strong multi-tasking skills.
  • High attention to detail with strong organizational and time management skills
  • Extensive knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
