Summary:
The Applications Trainer delivers high quality, end user training for legal and non-legal staff in classroom, e-learning, and one-on-one settings. The Applications Trainer identifies, plans, designs, and develops training sessions, lunch and learns, and training guides to equip end users with the ability to effectively use Firm technology to improve productivity.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Training for new hires, temporary, and current employees on computer applications, iPad and iPhone applications, telephone systems, and basic policies of the firm.
Designs and develops training materials for instruction through a variety of methodologies including but not limited to:
Classroom / instructor led training
One-on-one training
On-line learning modules that may be sole method for training a particular subject or may augment instructor led programs or other initiatives.
Coordinates and schedules all training including brush-up and skill enhancement sessions.
Conducts needs assessments and assists/develops a cohesive training strategy to build the skill level of individuals at the firm, Legal Assistant teams, and the skill level of the firm.
Designs metrics to measure the effectiveness of training programs.
Ensures IT staff is properly trained to support all applications and keeps them abreast of common issues.
Maintains Firm's training calendar, training room including laptops and desktops used for training, and other training resources.
Visits each office for ongoing training and floor support.
Actively participates in ILTA and relevant technology listserves.
Performs additional duties and responsibilities as needed.
Education and Experience Required:
Bachelor's degree in business, IT, or a related field required.
5-10 years of progressive training experience in a law firm or legal environment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
Thorough knowledge and understanding of common technology used within a law firm.
Willingness and ability to learn new technologies and to stay abreast of changes/advancements in the field.
Ability to identify and analyze issues and problems and to recommend and implement solutions in a timely and accurate fashion.
Flexible with the ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and projects and complete them under time constraints.
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to communicate, both verbally and written, with a diverse group of attorneys, staff, and vendors.
Maintains confidentiality of all firm and client matters.
Projects a high level of professionalism within the firm.
Ability to travel to firm's regional office locations to provide support as needed.
Work occasionally requires more than 40 hours per week to perform the essential duties of the position.
Team Involvement:
Conducts and/or participates in team meetings.
Develops and improves written procedures and workflow plans for department.
Contributes to building and maintaining a positive team spirit.
Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations.
