Actuarial Consultant
My name is Bill Stevens and I have a new twelve month plus Actuarial Consultant opportunity available for a major firm located in Whitehouse Station, New Jersey that could be of interest to you, please review my specification below and I am available at any time to speak with you so please feel free to call me. The work schedule will be three days a week Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays onsite and two days remote, the hours are 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
The ideal candidate should also possess a green card or be of citizenship. No Visa entanglements.
This position pays $55.00 per hour on a w-2 hourly basis.
Summary:
The firms Claims Actuarial Insights Department strives to empower claims professionals with actionable intelligence. The team works closely with senior leaders to provide reporting and ultimate loss projections for current and prior year catastrophes. This role will be asked to apply critical thinking to refresh, improve, and expand the catastrophe projection process for North America.
Responsibilities:
This role will be focused on updating and revamping the North America catastrophe projection process.
Pull, transform, and reconcile an updated historical dataset
Using the historical dataset, select factors and measures by event type and other attributes
Develop solutions to current challenges with the process
Build additional capabilities to address gaps in the process
Perform testing and validation to ensure the updated process works well
Document and communicate updates and changes to the process and their impact
Skills Required:
Fully Proficiency in Excel and working knowledge of VBA (Visual Basic Application).
Proficiency in SQL server; Working knowledge of R or Python is a plus
Strong analytical skills with the ability to work independently and effectively overcome challenges
Strong project and time management skills. Will take ownership of project.
Able to maintain good documentation and record keeping
Able to provide clear and concise verbal and written communications to non-actuarial business leaders
Desire to work in a fast-paced, fluid environment
Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree
FCAS (Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society) or ACAS (Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society) credential would be a plus only and is NOT required
5 years of experience in property/casualty actuarial disciplines
