Pride Health is hiring a Histotechnician V to support our client’s medical facility based in: Baltimore MD 21229. This is a 3 Months with the possibility of a contract opportunity and a great way to start working with a top-tier healthcare organization!

Title: Histotechnician V

Location: Baltimore MD 21229

Pay Rate: $33-$35 /hr. on W2.

Shift: 1st shift. Mon – Fri. 8 am –5 pm

Duration: 3 Months

*Pay Rate is based on experience and educational qualifications.

Summary:

Join our team as a Histotechnician in our state-of-the-art CAP-certified pathology laboratory. Under the guidance of senior staff, you will play a crucial role in performing routine and special paraffin histotechnology duties to ensure high-quality diagnostic material is delivered within specified turnaround times.

Position Responsibilities:

• Perform embedding, cutting, staining, and other tasks necessary for tissue processing in the Immunohistochemistry laboratory.
• Accurately perform gross descriptions on tissue samples.
• Conduct and document quality control procedures as per protocols, ensuring accurate records are maintained.
• Operate laboratory instruments and equipment according to established procedures, identifying and troubleshooting issues as they arise.
• Meet productivity standards and turnaround time goals for the section.
• Recognize and report testing errors or problems, assisting in their resolution.
• Record, transcribe, and maintain patient test results in the Laboratory Information System.
• Assist in identifying and analyzing inconsistent or abnormal results.
• Review results for accuracy and completeness before release.
• Complete routine and STAT testing within specified turnaround time guidelines.

Required Qualifications:

• Associate degree in medical technology, chemistry, biology, or related life sciences.
• Formal training in Histology from an accredited program (720 hours).
• State Licensure, where applicable (CA, FL, NY require licensing).
• Meets CLIA personnel standard criteria.
• Proficiency in microtomy, grossing, processing, embedding, cutting, and routine special staining techniques.
• 10 years of experience in histotechnology.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in medical technology, biology, or related field.
• ASCP Histotechnician (HT) certification.
• Experience in a CAP-certified laboratory.
