Part-time Bookkeeper (10-20 hours)

Position Summary: The church bookkeeper oversees accounting and fiscal responsibilities for the church. The bookkeeper works closely with the Treasurer, Treasury Team, and Chazin & Co., to complete fiscal and accounting tasks.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Process deposits

- Payables

- Enter invoices into Quickbooks

- Process invoices/bills

- Ensure pledge payments are recorded in correct general ledger accounts

- Process payroll and pay tax liabilities

- Process sales tax collected and remittances to TN state

- Support annual budget development

- Provide donation letter confirmations

- Work with Chazin & Co. to prepare financial reports and respond to financial inquiries as needed

- Provide support to Treasurer for annual audit

- Assist with annual financial reporting required by the state of Tennessee to maintain our church 501(c)3 non profit status.

- Other duties and responsibilities as identified by Treasurer

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS

- A bachelor’s degree in accounting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

- A minimum of 3 years of bookkeeping experience: non-profit environment is preferred.

- Understanding and experience with detailed accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll transactions

- Experience with Quickbooks is preferred

- Demonstrate a willingness to learn new tasks and functions

- Use discretion and confidentiality concerning financial and payroll information of church life

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $18.89 - $22.75 per hour

Expected hours: 10 – 20 per week
