For more information, please visit www.primemedicine.com. Prime Medicine is seeking an enthusiastic Lab Operations Lead to join the Lab Ops team. The candidate will manage many of the day-to-day functions required to support a 25,000SF Research and Development lab. The right person can triage and coordinate GxP equipment validation/maintenance, hazardous material management, laboratory facilities projects, EHS, shipping and receiving, consumables, and new equipment prep. The ideal candidate has a can-do customer service attitude backed by excellent communication and time management skills. Responsibilities
Consult with team members, scientists, and external consultants to develop, implement, and manage lab operations for research and development activities, ensuring a safe, efficient, and compliant laboratory environment.
Manage the inventory of solvents, consumables, and EHS supplies in the main storage area and various satellite stock locations.
Oversee the management and disposal of hazardous waste.
Collaborate closely with the Facilities team to coordinate the installation of lab utilities and minimize the impact of scheduled maintenance and shutdowns.
Maintain the schedule for the calibration, maintenance, and qualification of GMP and non-GMP equipment and instruments. Ensure that contracted service providers are proactively scheduled for these activities and that local equipment owners are notified in advance.
Maintains up-to-date equipment identification and other metadata within the computerized calibration and maintenance management system.
Review and approve calibration and preventive maintenance records, storing them after approval in a manner that ensures their ready retrievability from electronic systems.
Ensure calibration, preventive maintenance, and qualification activities are captured in available logbook entries.
Provide monthly status reports to Quality Assurance (QA), working with the QA team to close performance gaps and implement preventive actions.
Ensure all equipment is properly labeled and identified.
Schedule installation of new instruments, and operational qualification of GMP equipment.
Assist equipment owners with the creation of Standard Operating Procedures for the operation, cleaning, and maintenance of GMP equipment.
Identifies revisions, deletions, or additions of equipment or instruments to the calibration and maintenance inventory.
Remove and rectify equipment that is overdue for service, out of tolerance or otherwise unfit for use.
Qualifications
3 years of work in laboratory operations or GMP.
Ability to quickly learn industry and quality concepts and standards such as ISO 17025 and GMP.
Associate's Degree from a two-year college or technical institution minimum.
Ideal candidate is highly responsible, dependable, and works exceptionally well in a team environment.
Ability to lift 50lbs.
Ability to work on your feet >50% of the day.
Studies in biology, engineering, chemistry, or facilities management a plus.
