Prime Partners is Hiring an Electrical Superintendent Near Midland, MI

The Superintendent Mechanical-Electrical oversees and coordinates the work of subcontractors and Company trade labor for the electrical systems within a project. The role involves ensuring safety, timely delivery, quality, and adherence to the project budget. This position supervises Assistant Superintendents, Field Engineers, Interns, and trade labor within their area of responsibility.

Reports to: Project Superintendent, Project Manager, or MEP Manager

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Mechanical and Electrical Systems Management:

  • Make decisions related to scheduling, delivery, logistics, quality control, and staffing levels.
  • Coordinate work among assigned trades to ensure smooth project operations and resolve local area issues.
  • Manage site safety programs and ensure subcontractor compliance with Company standards and safety codes.
  • Supervise and develop Assistant Superintendents, Field Engineers, and Interns, including performance appraisals.
  • Ensure adherence to ethics and compliance requirements.

Project Scheduling and Coordination:

  • Create schedules, determine sequencing of work, and develop recovery strategies to maintain project schedules and budgets.
  • Communicate with owners, architects, and engineers to resolve field issues.
  • Oversee the billing process, including monthly estimates of work completed, payrolls, material invoices, and subcontractor payment applications.
  • Ensure work is installed in compliance with contract documents.

Technical Coordination:

  • Collaborate with the Engineer on mechanical and electrical systems coordination, equipment and piping layouts, and master coordination drawings and 3D models.
  • Lead project inspections, startup, commissioning, turnover, training processes, and punch list completion.
  • Coordinate, direct, and monitor subcontractors and suppliers to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and codes.
  • Review project changes with the Project Engineer and keep detailed records of MEPS trade contractors' progress.
  • Participate in preconstruction efforts, including constructability and logistics.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or at least four years of formal engineering or architectural experience, plus a minimum of six years of mechanical/electrical/plumbing construction experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of building construction methods, scheduling, cost control procedures, contracts, subcontract documents, drawings, and specifications.
  • Specific knowledge of Mechanical and Electrical Systems.
  • Proficient in building information modeling for coordinating mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and project schedules.
  • Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders, use construction personnel hoists, and navigate construction areas.
  • Vision abilities required include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
  • Physical activities include handling objects, tools, or controls, sitting, talking, hearing, standing, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.

Work Environment:

  • Work on-site at construction sites, exposed to moving mechanical parts, high places, fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, and risk of electrical shock.
  • Noise levels can range from moderate to very loud.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
