Primera Engineers is Hiring a GIS Specialist Near Chicago, IL

The primary responsibility of the GIS Specialist is to work in a team setting to develop a prioritization list of water main replacement candidates for CDWM’s CIP program.

Who You Are
  • You have a bachelor's in geography, environmental science, urban planning, computer sciences, civil engineering, or similar technical discipline and between one to two years of experience working with GIS technology during internships or academic projects, and/or academic coursework. Having knowledge of gas utilities is a must.
  • You have production line work, CAD experience, or drafting/design knowledge in a GIS application.
  • You can create, maintain, analyze and share project data via the ESRI ArcGIS suite as well as Power BI.
  • You have a strong understanding in data management, data sourcing and query understanding.
  • You're a strong communicator with the ability to explain complex, technical matters with ease, grace, and simplicity so that non-specialist readers understand.
  • You have the ability to interface and work effectively with various levels of the client organization and other City agencies.
  • You're self-driven and motivated. You can work independently or within a team. You're able to give and receive feedback.
What You'll Do
  • You'll analyze other agency planning data within the City of Chicago to identify conflicts and coordination opportunities to assist with prioritization of CIP projects.
  • You'll work closely with the Program’s Enterprise GIS team to assist in development of GIS-based planning tool platforms that help optimize output for CDWM’s requested tasks and requests.
  • You'll work in an evolving team environment as well as independently depending on the project/request.
  • You'll create, maintain, analyze and share project data via the ESRI ArcGIS suite as well as Power BI.
  • You're self-driven and motivated; you willingly develop enhanced or adapt skills to meet objectives.
