The Prince George's Arts & Humanities Council (PGAHC) is the legislative arts agency of Prince George’s County dedicated to advancing arts, culture, and humanities. If you have financial operations experience and a love for the arts and humanities, this role is for YOU!

Position Summary:

The PGAHC Comptroller is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the organization, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards, and providing strategic financial guidance. This role involves managing all aspects of financial reporting, budgeting, auditing, and financial analysis to support the non-profit’s mission and goals.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
  • Manage the annual budgeting process and provide ongoing budget forecasts.
  • Prepare and present financial reports to the executive team and Board of Directors.
  • Implement and maintain financial controls and procedures.
  • Oversee grant accounting and ensure compliance with grant requirements.
  • Coordinate and manage annual audits and liaise with external auditors.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including tax filings.
  • Develop and maintain internal audit processes.
  • Provide strategic financial advice and support to the leadership team.
  • Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement.

Experience/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field required; CPA required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or financial management, preferably in the non-profit sector.
  • Proven experience in managing financial operations of multi-division organizations, including budgeting, financial reporting, and audits.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and non-profit accounting standards.
  • Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
